I really don’t understand why people keep posting things like “stop doing this.” Who exactly are you talking to, and what do you think it’s going to solve? People don’t just start burning things for no reason. This kind of reaction doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a direct response to fear, anger, and years of being pushed into a corner.
This isn’t new. America has always responded to political and social pressure with unrest. Both Republicans and Democrats have seen this happen when people feel unheard or attacked. It’s not ideal, but it’s a pattern baked into this country. Telling people not to react when their lives and freedoms are being torn apart doesn’t help. It just shows you don’t understand where that reaction comes from.
You might think property destruction is going too far, and you’re entitled to that view. But don’t act like it’s some foreign concept in America. And don’t pretend it’s worse than what we saw on January 6. That was a direct attack on the seat of government, encouraged by people who lost an election and wanted to overturn democracy. What’s happening now is the exact opposite. It’s not about seizing power. It’s about pushing back against abuse of it.
When communities are being raided. When people are being pulled from their homes or vehicles with no clear process. When they don’t know if they’ll ever make it back to their families. What exactly do you think the response should be? Silence? A politely worded letter?
People don’t riot because they want chaos. They riot because everything else has failed. And while it would be great to live in a world without violence, that’s not where we are. The reality is that destruction gets noticed. And that’s what these people want. To be seen. To be heard. To stop being invisible.
This isn’t about endorsing violence. It’s about recognizing cause and effect. If you really want to stop scenes like this, focus on what created them. Don’t just yell at the reaction. Ask yourself what’s behind it. Because until that changes, these outbursts are going to keep happening.
