About This Game

Hatred fills your whole body. You’re sick and tired of humanity’s worthless existence. The only thing that matters is your gun and the pure Armageddon that you want to unleash.

You will go out for a hunt, and you will clear the New York outskirts of all humans with cold blood. You will shoot, you will hurt, you will kill, and you will die. There are no rules, there is no compassion, no mercy, no point in going back. You are the lord of life and death now - and you have full control over the lives of worthless human scum.

You will also run, you will need to think, you will need to hide and fight back when armed forces come to take you down. You will have no mercy for them, because they dare to stand in your way.

Only brutality and destruction can cleanse this land. Only a killing spree will make you die spectacularly and go to hell.

Satirically edgy and an interesting contender to postal.

This... game.... is the most Edgiest game I have ever played... and it's Beautiful.....

9.5/10, my only issue is that it could use more gore effects. :T

It's basically Postal Redux but with 2.5D graphics, a marketing strategy to rival the most shameless of 70's exploitation films, a Roguelite mode better than the story levels, a protagonist so edgy Yuri from Doki Doki Literature Club would add him to her knife collection, a moderately funny YouTube poop made from its cutscenes and I can play it with a 12th Gen CPU for more than 20 seconds without my game crashing.

Nowhere near as transgressive as anyone led me to believe (devs included), it plays itself so straight it loops right back around to being about as silly as your average emo kid from middle school who would look at the art for the Steam cards for this game depicting John "Not Important" Hatred and say "this guy gets me". Unfortunately, the story is about as riveting as a typical conversation with said kid. I can only imagine that, like almost all pop media controversies, Destructive Creations played the gaming world like a fiddle and then laughed their way to the bank before moving on to strategy games of all things. As is, Hatred is aggressively okay enough that I feel fine having paid $2 to add it to the rotation of games I just kinda boot up when I want to turn my brain off.

Update 6/1: If you're not too hung up about not getting achievements, the 1.666 mod of the game is an improved experience overall, with a choice between top-down, first and third person, tons of gameplay and visual customizations available, and even unlockable cheats and other goodies. I especially appreciate how much of a better spiritual sequel to Postal 1 it is compared to the vanilla game.

need more dark gritty games like this. the world is too softened to the reality of people like this, the reality of people with the tendencies to do stuff like this, this game explores the mind of a man sick of society. its an experience so bold that mainstream gaming companies fear releasing a title like it. dark realism games like this will always be interesting wether you like it or not.

Let's put aside the idea of this game being purely negative about indiscriminate massacre, it's just a gore and violent game. The biggest problem here is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls that drive me crazy.

The character's movement feedback sucks. There's always a sense of delay, so it is very easy to get stuck in various positions, then you take damage for no reason. I can barely accept it.

But, I can't accept the game's aiming mechanism. First, we all know the main color of this game is black and white, and it's pretty dim in the environment. This sometimes makes you barely see people clearly even within a screen's range, but your enemy can see you and of course shoot you from a distance. You took shot from somebody afar, you realize there are enemies outside your screen range, you press the right button to find your enemies, you get slowed down because of doing so, you get annoyed by the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera movement for a sec, you take some time to spot your enemy, and you aim, then you shoot. Yeah, your enemy dies, but you took tons of damage during the whole process. You are always half a beat slower than the enemy. Although you can check the mini-map to know the enemy's position in advance, the reality is that you can't always check the mini-map. Like I said, even though you can aim down sights to get a better view, you still often can't see people clearly because of the black and white tones and dim environments.

And here's this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ throwing grenade mechanism. My grandma can throw a grenade faster than the character. You are always slow in everything you do.

Don't recommend.

I remember when the trailer was released, all the drama, all the nonsense that was quickly forgotten.

Having run through a few levels of this, best I can say is this is a game

Knock off worse version of Postal, but I did have some fun for a couple hours so I guess that counts for something.

Fantastic gameplay! Love the art style and the fully destructible environments and the character is badass! Reminds me of old school GTA which were some of the better ones in my opinion. The missions keep it more interesting than the original GTA’s though

terrible at its worst and just okay at its best. Basically good concepts, poor execution. It was fun for about an hour and then the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ controls just make it annoying, adds to the charm honestly.
