More than 1 hectare of forestland in Kutchan (倶知安町), Hokkaido, near Mount Yotei (羊蹄山; aka Ezo Fuji 蝦夷富士), has been illegally cleared by a Sapporo construction company commissioned by a person believed to be a
Chinese for a resort development. The project was being carried out without the necessary permits.
Authorities in Hokkaido have issued an order to halt the construction, citing violations of the Forestry Act.
I wonder what Japan would look like in 10 or 20 years in view of the large influx of tourists, students and businesses from China.
