You’re right to be alarmed, but the State National Guard answers to the governor. And governors, even in blue states, rarely push back hard against the federal government. They could refuse to cooperate, they could demand transparency, but most won’t cross that line. That’s the uncomfortable truth. States have power under the Constitution. They can limit cooperation with federal agencies, deny them local resources, and refuse to activate the Guard on federal orders. But if the governors won’t act, then it’s up to the people to stand up. Because what we’re seeing from Donald Trump’s administration is fascism. And if the states won’t check it, the public must.
