Anyone can buy a “POLICE” patch or tactical vest. That’s not real identification. You don’t get to roll into a neighborhood masked up, refuse to announce who you are, and claim a hidden patch on your hip counts as proper ID. That’s not how law enforcement works. That’s how kidnappers operate. Federal agents still have a responsibility to clearly identify themselves when detaining people or using force. A badge buried under gear doesn’t cut it. Courts have upheld that arrests and detentions require visible, verifiable authority. If agents show up looking like a militia group and won’t say who they are, they’re creating chaos, not enforcing the law.
