Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that Russia has not sent any memorandum regarding peace. At the same time, the aggressor continues heavy overnight shelling of Ukraine.

"These are the sounds over my house this morning — and over thousands of other Ukrainian homes," Sybiha said.

Since the beginning of the night, Ukraine has been under massive air attacks involving ballistic, cruise, and cluster missiles, as well as hundreds of drones.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that despite Russia's claims about preparing for peace talks and a supposed "memorandum," no official documents or proposals have been sent to Kyiv, Ankara, or Washington.

"Nobody even knows what they plan to talk about. Instead, Russia continues launching deadly strikes on Ukraine," Sybiha emphasized.

He added that the aggressor will only take peace seriously once it faces strong international pressure.

"Everyone needs to see and hear that Russia is completely rejecting peace, ceasefire, and any constructive proposals from around the world," Sybiha stated.

Overnight attacks

In the early hours of June 1, Russian forces launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine using drones. The Ukrainian Air Force also reported a threat of ballistic missile launches.

It is worth noting that the Sumy direction borders Kursk. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia is amassing troops in the Sumy direction. According to him, more than 50,000 enemy forces are currently concentrated there.

Border guards explained that these are the same troops Russia redeployed to Kursk region to try to push out the Defense Forces. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that the enemy holds "its best units in Kursk region, which it planned to deploy in the east."

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) point out that Russia aims to create a "buffer zone" in Sumy region within artillery range.

"On May 31, Russian forces continued offensive operations in Sumy region but did not achieve confirmed progress," the ISW report says.
