About the artist

Kano Masunobu (1625～1694)

江戸前期の画家。駿河台狩野家の祖。彫金家・後藤立乗の子。幼名は山三郎。名は益信。号に洞雲、宗深道人、松陰子等。書を松花堂昭乗に、絵を狩野探幽に学ぶ。探幽の養子になるが、のち分家する。表絵師の筆頭で法眼に叙せられる。
