The 21-year-old, who won the club's Young Player of the Year award and was nominated for the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year prize, played 39 times for Hibs, scoring three goals and setting up six more for his team-mates as the Easter Road side finished third in the Scottish Premiership.
The Sydneysider is under contract with Sunderland until the summer of 2027, but head coach David Gray has made no secret of his desire to renew his working relationship with the former Central Coast Mariners youngster.
“He's certainly benefited from coming here in terms of what he's done for his career. And there'll be a conversation to be had, but it'll ultimately be up to his parent club and also whatever he wants to do," Gray said.
“But Hibs is certainly not a bad place for him to come and play, and European football is something else he can add to his CV if he wants to do that. You forget he's only 21 years old, so there's a lot of improvement still to come. I believe there is loads more to come, and he's the type of boy that wants to get better as well."

With the Black Cats winning promotion to the English Premier League after defeating Sheffield United in the play-off final, there may be a deal to be done for Triantis, who is keen to keep playing regular first-team football next season and may not get that at the Stadium of Light.
His agent Jem Karacan spoke in April about the main aims for Triantis next season and pointed to his role as a regular starter in green and white.
“People are starting to talk about him but Nectar is very grounded. He just wants to enjoy his football, and with the season he's had, yeah, there's going to be interest," the former Reading and Bolton midfielder said.
"But it's also about, what does Nectar want? He has to play next year. We can't afford for him to go to a club and be a bit-part player. He's experienced a season of being one of the main men. He needs to repeat that.
"We need to make sure that he gets to a club, or if he stays at Sunderland, that there are going to be opportunities to play. That's our main focus, making sure he goes to a team where he's going to feel an important part of it."
