Building a brand based on dog photos and reaffirming my commitment to my super villain era. If it turns out that you know anyone who needs someone to handle sticky situations, this is where to find me.

I've mentioned On Here that I'm working on litigation about GamerGate. Here's a video from our client, who decided to chronicle the amount of harassment she receives on a daily basis from the Internet's worst people. Somewhat unsurprisingly, the first version of this video was taken down by YouTube because she didn't obscure the email address of the guy who was sending her consistent rape threats. Yes, YouTube, that's definitely "private" information. If ever you wondered whether YouTube profits from harassment, note that none of the videos where people are reveling in sending her rape threats has ever been taken down. About 15 months ago, when Alyssa wrote the article she mentions, she also asked where are the men who said last time that they would never stand for watching women be harassed. I said hey, I'm "men", and I don't even have a job to lose anymore. So I put out a series of tweets in which I referenced my years running Trust & Safety programs at my various employers, and how those programs are aimed to keep out assholes. This got so much rage from the Dork Web that Fox News wrote a hit piece about me. So I have 0.1% of understanding of what this must be like for her. Alyssa is going to make law, and that law will hopefully be the beginning of the turnaround of today's hate-filled Internet. Of course, it'll be extra hard to turn that ship around, now that it's the primary locus of support for the current US President. Even still, we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. https://lnkd.in/ggB4sRn4

Naturally, the Dork Web has decided to brigade her for standing up against them and are flooding her video with comments that prove her point but nobody should have to see.

The Dork Web has found this post so get ready for some of the stupidest takes you’ve ever seen. LinkedIn has a decent block function which I suspect will get a workout over the next few days.

Good on you for being part of the solution to weaponizing hate for money. It's wild how often ppl "in the games industry" try to find a foothold here on LI with related talking points.

I had no idea you’d taken her on as a client! Keep fighting the good fight.

Don McGowan I love all the work you’ve done spotlighting and protecting the innocent women just trying to enjoy a video game—it’s abhorrent and insane. Maybe it was always there and I never saw it … but largely gaming in the 80s and 90s … I don’t recall ever encountering it. I’m sure its rise to prominence can be traced back to online gaming … but, still. Maybe a few of us like minded folk could start something interesting in this space, like a non-profit? (Veda Cruz, Esq., MBA ?). Could be cool! ✌️ “Ghosts n’ Guardians” … “Ctrl-Alt-Defend” …

Awful. Just awful. I couldn't watch the entire video. What a broken world we live in.
