Usage notes

[edit]
  • In Vietnamese dialectology, Nam Trung Bộ is often used for the dialects of Đà Nẵng, Quảng Nam, and Quảng Ngãi, although these are only the three northernmost provinces. The dialects of Bình Định and Phú Yên are colloquially called Nẩu/Nẫu (after nẩu, the third person pronoun characteristic of these provinces); these Nẫu dialects are sometimes grouped with above group (although they have far fewer Central features). The dialects of Khánh Hoà, Ninh Thuận, Bình Thuận are under-researched and often subsumed with the mainstream Southeastern dialects.
