I am exactly on the fence about this! I need a new monitor to pair with both my Mac Mini as well as my Windows company laptop. I might just buy both the Dell and the BenQ and return the one that doesn’t meet expectations. The Dell has the better port selection, however I’ve read online instances of the Ethernet port not running at Gibabit speeds on the Mac, as well as an unusually wobbly stand (plus it’s 4k). The BenQ (and Asus) both lose on the hub port selection (even more so the Asus), but they are 5K. I think I need to see the difference in real life between 4K and 5K to understand if it’s worth it, as your options then become rather limited if 5K is a must.
I had the Dell U2725QE and a Studio Display next to each other for some time. Both has some merits, but I’ve sent back the Dell due to the coil whine. Regarding picture quality I think the 2nd gen IPS black is on par with the SD’s glossy surface. I wonder what a panel not from 5 years ago would do to Apple’s SD… If you don’t look at all the fancy stuff, this is the time when a ASD has been caught by the competitors, at least by display quality.
On 5k and 4k, there is a well visible difference. However you won’t notice much until you don’t have them next to each other or a MBP next to a 4k display. Is the text more blurry on 4k@1440p? Yes. Is it awesome on 4k@1080p? Yes. 5k is much better if you do work with a lot of text, 4k@120Hz, like with the Dell will triumph in every other case.

I had a brief look side by side at the store and couldn’t really make out the difference when connecting my macbook. not sure it’s worth it to go from 4k to 5k.
very interested in how it compares to a benq’s new 5k, an apple 5k display, and even a 4k display like the U2725QE.

I’m interested in the standby power consumption of this monitor. For example, when my laptop is connected, put into sleep mode, and then disconnected, the power usage fluctuates around 20 watts, even with nothing connected with this monitor. Additionally, sometimes when I connect the laptop and put it to sleep, the power usage fluctuates around 3 watts. There really seems to be an issue with how the monitor detects the video signal and/or standby mode. Encountered strange things in both power modes (normal vs deep).
Very interested in the backlight bleeding of the panel, where several posts and few videos online state that it is beyond “normal levels” (for worse)
