It's hard to rate a collection of 21 short stories. I gave it 4 stars mainly because this collection has "Pacifist" - a story that is unfortunately still very relevant today and is worth 5 stars all by itself. Many of the other stories are fun as well, such as "The Adventure of the Extraterrestrial", presenting an aged Sherlock Holmes given a very unusual case.

Mack Reynolds was interested in people, societies, and economic systems - not so much gadgetry and science. That helps his stories' longevity.

You need to make some allowances for the era - a few of the stories exhibit rather old-fashioned attitudes (e.g. "Good Indian"). But still, as that rarest of birds, a genuinely left-wing SF writer of the 40s and 50s, Mack Reynolds is fascinating to read.
