- Held TodayNo reservation requiredExhibitionCommunity Design for the Future Connected by Food and AgricultureThe ongoing population decline in Japan is particularly progressing from rural areas, and in rural areas where primary industry is the key industry, the decline of agriculture is also affecting the decline of other jobs. Therefore, it is said that it is necessary to make agriculture a “profitable industry” to increase rural migration and the related population. Therefore, in Kansai, which has the advantage of proximity between urban and rural areas, we are working toward demonstrating and proposing a community model that connects urban and rural areas through “food and agriculture,” aiming to revitalize rural areas by building a “regional economic zone based on local production for local consumption” that integrates urban and rural areas.Future Life ZoneOpen Time15/05/2025 10:00~21:00

- Held TodayNo reservation requiredExhibitionAccelerating the realization of a sustainable society through bio-manufacturingOne of the pressing issues that science and technology in the 21st century must address is the realization of a sustainable society. There is a widespread need in industry for innovation to achieve the SDGs, carbon recycling, and a move away from fossil fuels. In particular, there is great anticipation for the social implementation of technologies that produce useful substances such as chemical product alternatives and alternative food ingredients through “bio-manufacturing,” which makes highly effective use of microbial functions. Osaka Institute of Technology has established a research and development base and research support base called the “Bio-Monozukuri Laboratory” with the support of a national project in order to quickly link the functions of new microorganisms developed by new companies to actual production and social implementation. We have a wide range of culture facilities, from small to medium scale, to meet the needs of the bio industry, including new entrants. We are developing and utilizing automation and digital transformation (DX) technologies to address future labor shortages and reduce the burden on workers. We also hold regular seminars for company engineers on bioreactor design and operation methods, with practical training. We will continue to act as a support base underpinning the development of Japanese biotechnology manufacturing. In addition to oral explanations, video presentations, and the distribution of pamphlets, we are also planning to exhibit actual products to give visitors a hands-on feel for biotechnology manufacturing. We hope to collaborate with companies, universities, and research institutes that are interested in biotechnology manufacturing technology in general. We look forward to seeing you there.Future Life ZoneOpen Time15/05/2025 10:00~21:00

- Held TodayWorkshopsEXPO SAUNA TAIYO NO TSUBOMIThe Expo sauna, "TAIYO NO TSUBOMI," is located at the western edge of the venue, overlooking Osaka Bay. This open, scenic waterfront sauna offers an immersive experience that embodies the theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai: "Designing Future Society for Our Lives. Petal-shaped air membrane cushions come together to form a single bud, creating a beautifully dynamic structure that stretches toward the sun, brimming with vitality. The energy of the sun, immersed in the air of the sea, plants, and wind, pours down onto the "TAIYO NO TSUBOMI (Sun Bud)." The delicate yet powerful membrane creates an environment filled with natural energy, harmonizing our minds and bodies and guiding us back to the core of our humanity. The space, enveloped by an ETFE film* membrane that allows natural light to filter through, glows gracefully with LED lighting, harmonizing with the ever-changing nature of Osaka Bay across the seasons and time. The sauna offers a completely new 'co-creation' space, embodying a future society that values “warmth and harmony.” *ETFE film: A high-performance fluoropolymer material that has been processed into a film. It is increasingly recognized for its potential to replace glass, offering new possibilities for architectural design. ※An event-style sauna experience guided by instructions from the staff. ※Please make sure to arrive on time. ※The event date may be subject to change on short notice due to maintenance work on the sauna room. ※The event details are subject to change without prior notice.
