Your Holiness , Women in the United States are suffering under policies fueled by rigid religious doctrine. These abortion bans are not just legal restrictions. They are theocratic impositions, enforced by politicians who claim to speak for faith itself. But that faith does not have to be silent. You hold immense spiritual authority. If you were to affirm that abortion, under circumstances of bodily autonomy and personal conscience, can be compatible with Catholic teaching, you would not only protect women’s rights. You would give them the legal means to challenge these laws under the same religious freedom protections that conservatives use to deny care to others. This is not about forcing your hand. You are the shepherd of your own faith. But I strongly urge you to consider this. If Catholic doctrine can recognize that life is complex, and that compassion must lead the way, then millions of women could finally reclaim control over their own bodies not in defiance of faith, but because of it. The same religious freedom laws that conservatives weaponized against contraception and LGBTQ rights could now be the key to dismantling abortion bans, if the Church stands with the faithful who are suffering. Your voice could shift the global conversation and bring healing where there is harm. Please lead with courage. With sincerity and urgency, Thomas Mix
