I said this in a recent comment but I think it deserves more exposure.

Full disclosure: I supported Kamala Harris in the primary, and switched support to Joe Biden. But I believe in all of our candidates, even though I don’t personally like or connect with Bernie. I’m gonna do you guys a solid either way.

But for all of the talk of economic inequality stump speeches or revolution, I find that all noise. It never varies and doesn’t address racial disparities or problems. What amazes me is that Bernie fans don’t ever seem to tout the best thing about him. If I were a primary voter for Bernie I’d be screaming this from the rooftops.

But like him or not, if he’s the GE candidate, if Russians helped Trump “win” by fucking with the election, Bernie is the ONLY candidate who wouldn’t accept the results. I believe everyone else (besides possibly Harris, who’s out), everyone, INCLUDING Biden, and yes, Warren, would concede within a day in the name of “National unity”, “moving forward”, “healing the country”, blah blah blabbity bullshit blah. Bernie just wouldn’t give a fuck, and would fight tooth and nail, and expose that corruption to the core. That is his best selling point, and it’s amazing none of you guys point it out or give him credit for it.

Also I should probably state for the record that while it is a selling point in the general election, it IS admittedly a huge weakness in a primary because that hurts us if he isn’t the nominee. But the best thing about Bernie potentially being the nominee is that he would fucking fight for it.

Perhaps take that advice with a grain of salt coming from a Biden supporter. But you guys are missing the forest for the trees.

“None of you guys point it out”. Just so divisive in tone. By the by, this is pointed out all the time. He is consistent and stands up for what he believes. Often he is made fun of when it is pointed out. Like when he got arrested during the civil rights movement. Marching with MLK was made fun of. Like he was a poser.

No, his willingness to stand up to power is always discussed. Russia alone is not the test of that. And for many bernie opponents it won’t matter.

My bad. I am just so used to after every statement I’ve made supporting Obama over the years in having to clarify upfront that I don’t agree with everything he did. Otherwise I’d be accused of loving drone strikes of innocent babies. And now that’s become a habit of mine for any Dem I compliment, no matter who it is. It’s a bad habit, I’ll grant you, but it’s not because I’m overly dismissive or divisive over Bernie.

Besides, this diary isn’t really aimed at Bernie supporters. It’s for people who don’t support him in the primary, and fear him getting the nomination. I don’t need to tell Bernie supporters why he’ll win. You guys already believe that. I’m trying to put the idea in the head of the “Bernie’s gonna lose 40 states” crowd. Because even though I believe Biden will get the nod, it’s not a sure thing. I think any of our candidates can beat Trump, but Bernie has a little extra incentive to support him in the general election that the others don’t.

My memory is fuzzy, but I vaguely remember that when 2016 happened, some people asked for a recount, which turned out nothing, and that was it. We can assume that’s about the fight Sanders would offer.

To be fair, “he is the best sore loser” is a fascinating backhanded compliment. It packs all of 2016-angst, all of the he-will-lose mantra and uses it to reduce all of Sanders’ strengths to noise. I think the equivalent with Biden would be “that way progressives would be blamed least”, but it wouldn’t have the same clarity.

So, yeah. Sanders 2020: “We will lose very loudly”.

I (don’t really) wonder what your slogan was for Harris...

Clinton just proved that she is the best sore looser.

What?  As in WTF?  Is this another garbage retread of the bogus theory that Bernie did not support Hillary?  If so, delete this piece.

Bernie and Hillary are ancient history. I don’t care about it.

I...thought it was meant to be jocular? Honestly, I expect there to be a lot of lawsuits either way. Trump won’t just go. I kind of dread this part. And we will need to be thoroughly lawyered up before the election, whoever the nominee.
