Do I actually need to explain this to the front-pagers? Why the fucking hell would anyone want to hand Trump this frame and gift on a silver platter with ANY replace plan? Why the hell would any Democrat think putting Trump’s name next to the word “care” would do ANYTHING but damage us and make people think Trump cares about them? This is exactly what fucked the Republicans up with Obamacare. Why the hell do we want to do that to ourselves willingly?

This is normally the kind of thing I’d put in a comment, but I’m seen this twice on the Front Page recently, and that’s twice too many. It’s got to stop. Now. Before the Republicans see this for the gift it is and claim it as their own.

If the coarse title means more people read this, the better. This has to be nipped in the bud. Immediately.

It will fail. Everyone will hate it. So why do you mind if the Trump name is on it?

Because it subconsciously gives the idea that Trump cares. It doesn’t matter if it’s otherwise bad. People will psychologically process it as good.

I think you are reflecting your own values. Which aren’t bad ones.

Most people didn’t approve of Obamacare, even though it was a vast improvement, and added many millions to the insured for the first time.

Nobody will love Trump when his healthcare is shit and a fraud compared to Obama’s.  Besides, you can’t stop the name.

This is why Dems suck at framing.

Besides, you can’t stop the name.

But we don’t have to hand it to them either.

I don’t think the naming rights are worth much.

Personally, I think if the Repubs repeal the ACA, they will commit political suicide. I don’t even believe they are that stupid, as a whole. Obviously, the Freedum Asylum or whatever its called, has to have watchers to keep them from sticking forks in the outlets.

Whatever they do is on them, IF some Vichy Dems can be restrained long enough from voting on some Bipartisanized crapola.

Most people didn’t approve of Obamacare

That seems to be such an over-simplification of a vast array of (and in many cases, directly contradictory) complaints about a huge government undertaking attempting to address a deeply-personal individual’s need so as to be, if not a manipulative falsity, a virtually meaningless statement.

It’s like saying:

Most people disapprove of dirt.

and expecting folks to nod in agreement.

I dunno...maybe...but to me because — as Karl Rover states — it will fail, it seems like more of a humorous name.  It’s a name for something that won’t exist. Or if it does exist is likely to be so bad that the name will be forever tainted.

Additionally it is a naming that goes against much of what Republicans believe so is a dig at them.

On the veerrrrry longshot chance anything workable comes out of it, I guess I won’t much care what we’ve been calling it.

How did that work out for Republicans and Obamacare? Part of the precise reason opinion turned around is because he embraced the name. You think an egomaniac like Trump won’t do the same thing? I don’t even know how this is an argument. Frank Luntz is cackling and rubbing his hands together in glee.

if he does he still has to *do* something. If it’s worse it will be obvious.

Either way it has the benefit of having republicans accept that they are coming up with some sprt of a universal plan.

In a two party system the game isn’t just about winning. You will ALWAYS lose something approaching half the time, or else it isn’t really a two party system. So half the game, the less glamorous and more uncomfortable part, is changing the general discourse and making the other side more like you so that the middle can move. That’s the only way a two party system can work, and unfortunately ignoring that reality in favor of making them only an enemy other has not worked...will never work.

Remember that the Republicans could be sarcastic calling it Obamacare because they think (thought) the idea of organized universal healthcare was absurd to start with. If they adopt a term  like that as their own would actually be the completion of a huge step.

Also because any time he sees his name, it boosts his ego.  He still thinks the protestors are cheering him.

Because it gives him incentive to repeal aca. His name on it is major motivation for him. He loves putting his name on everything and he will never let go if tho if u attach his name.

True. We need to be tying all of rumps failures to the republican party. You all know if rump quits every single R that’s been fluffing him for the past year will pretend they had nothing to do with it.

Back in 2008, McCain was concerned about cost

He had ways to address this which were not “big government”.
