Jesus Fucking Christ, Kos Front Page!

We’ve asked them to stop over and over again. It’s deliberate and pathological at this point. They are TRYING to piss us off. The front page is just as sociopathic as Tr-mp for as much consideration they are giving the readership.

My suggestion. Click on NO stories with Tr-mp’s picture. Rec NO diaries with it either. Don’t reward bad behavior.

Fuck this site for doing this shit to begin with. It’s not okay.

Please do not add his name to the tags, Kos readers.

Yes, I no longer click on diaries with his picture and if I do accidentally, I don’t rec them. I was thinking of setting up monthly donations, but will not as long as this continues. I have seen lots  of comments about this, as well as my own. They are not listening. Sometimes I wonder if they are even reading comments.

The “authors” on the front page have zero interactions in the comments.  None.

This was comment earlier today about the photo bullshit:

I came straight to the comments since I don’t read diaries with 1) that orange asshole’s photo in them, and 2) embedded twits.

What can we stop him from doing?

Pardon me for thread jumping but Uncharted Blue doesn’t do that. They have better FP staff and, even if the story is about Trusk/Mump, No Pictures.
Front Pagers are excellent, but you still have to come here for the comunity though.

Do NOT need to add his hideous face. Everyone on the planet knows what he looks like. I think I will do likewise and not read or rec articles with his pic. It’s gonna be a long 4 years , it’s already total chaos and he’s not in office yet.

Fast becoming mine as well, and indeed these all seemingly ‘ex’ DKos alumni — a majority of the site’s best any time. Wish its threads had the rich text and graphics options we do here, but all must start somewhere.

While I find some blasts against greater DKos over it unduly harsh, must agree the DT image barrage has become sick porn of a sort and sick of it as anyone.

Dear current DKos authors, mods and admins, from a loyal member who will stick around but just as upset: please stop. Our cause absolutely hurt by this and no amount of clicks let alone Reco’s worth the downright MSM look.

The Criminal’s name unavoidable, but memes for cover images just as attention getting without traumatizing everyone further as we approach the Nazi Event Horizon and need that energy for the WWII-scale, unified resistance it will require.

Yes the previous writers of Kos were fantastic.  I spend time on uncharted as well.  I don't know what is wrong with the writers here, but there are not as good.  Admittedly, I read the articles that have trumps face.  I simply ignore it and go on to the story just so I can get to the comments which is what I enjoy most.  But I think I am going to follow Matt’s suggestions.

This is not a big ask to the writers here, not sure why they won’t comply.

Speculation: perhaps they are getting paid per article, not for engagement with readers.

I’m aware that people access sites through their computers, phones, and pads. I suspect I’ll have a different viewpoint after I’m restricted to the last two when I go on holiday the end of the month. I use Firefox on my desktop and have no worries. iOS might be a different matter.

I read the news on my kindle. When the prompt to check my email in order to sign in to Uncharted Blue, I pick up my phone and check my email. It opens up Uncharted Blue on my phone. Too small to navigate on. So, I have to close my browser on my Kindle, open the email app and click the link. Which then opens uncharted Blue in Chrome instead of the Silk browser I use on my kindle.

I leave my Kos page and a few other up at all times and I don't have to sign in every time. For me with a TBI, I must simplify things or I just get unnecessarily frustrated.

This front page is the worst it's ever been, and I've been *reading* a very long time.

Worthless crap pieces that have zero analysis, sound like copy paste jobs off the AP. Idiotic rage click bait trump garbage 24 7. Relentless pictures of him l for no reason. It's more like Daily Mail than Daily Kos. God damn it sucks and there's no hope. I want to support this site and said a few months ago I'd wait to see if it got better before I do that.

It's even worse so I went with the Guardian instead.

We get it already — there’s no need to blast his face everywhere, esp on a progressive site. Mother Jones doesn’t do it or The Nation. It can be done.

I think it’s just intellectually and journalistically lazy at this point. Like they can’t think of anything new, creative, or different to say or post.

I’ve installed a browser plugin that replaces photos of Trump with photos of kittens.

The problem is that it only works if the word “trump” appears in either the name of the image file or the ALT tags.

For some reason, many of the photos of Trump on this site don’t include either of those attributes.   The only other option is to disable images in your Web browser.

I’ve got the same plugin.  Unfortunately, too many tRump pix still slip in and, each time one does, I get so furious I feel nauseous.

It’s a diabolical plot against your browser plug in ha ha. (Kidding).

There ought to be an automatic pop up when you open the site that includes a trigger warning at this point. I’m not minimizing the trauma of others — I seriously think that segments of this country have been traumatized by this man and repeated exposure is unhealthy, unproductive, and honestly lazy from an intellectual and journalistic perspective. Seriously, don’t they have anything new to say??

And people wonder why Dems lost and he won. I think part of it is the repeated, in your face overexposure. Like Ricky Bobby’s if you’re not first you’re last but in politics.

Like 2/3 of the rest of America, I am avoiding political stories right now. It is hard to do with every other story being political in nature. I just don’t want to hear about it right now, and to see his face is like sticking needles into my brain. So, I agree and I will not click on or rec any diary with his face attached.

There are so many comments for ages now and yet the second you open the site, the first thing you see is, I don’t even want to say b/c we all know how that sentence ends. Put a trigger warning on that thing already.

I especially hate the ones where he looks like a giant piehole (although it sometimes makes me laugh to think of him as a gigantic piehole).

Yeah. Maybe the voters who foisted this abomination on us love his face. I sure don’t!

I gather that the Seattle Times does not feature his face any more than they can help it.

The problem is that attention is what narcissists crave. This is one reason I never spell out his name. I’ve lived with a narcissist. They always have to be the center of attention and that is what these stories are giving him. You can’t ignore him because of the stupidest voters in the world, but you don’t have to wallow in his visage and certainly not give him praise for wanting to own the world.

Has Markos been back since he announced the higher price for a subscription?

7Recommend

Don’t know. Some kind souls gifted me subscriptions here, and the last of them expires this month. Thank you, anonymous kind souls. I did and do appreciate this, and it was a lovely thing for you to do.

While I appreciated this very much, it did not prevent us from losing many fine writers and other wonderful staffers [remember the flurry of gift subscriptions given to try to help the site? Kind of like the billion dollar Dem campaign war chest that didn’t win the election?]. Makes it hard for me to believe that the price increase is going to be any better at preserving things worth preserving.

Beyond that, I am seriously unenthusiastic about putting money in now, not merely because of the price hike, but because I’m sick and tired of all the antireligious hate that is spewed here without consequence;

not to mention the other forms of hate that are spewed here routinely [see Barry Deutsch’s latest cartoon for vivid examples AND a comments section that is actively nauseating in its defense of and advocacy for more hate, hotter and stronger].

I want to hang out with grownups, and be able to read diaries, comment intelligently on them, write a few of my own, have conversations, make puns, share music and helpful hints about this and that, and commiserate with people about our shared concerns. I do NOT want to constantly worry about fending off random hate barrages from a collection of sullen, meanspirited types with five bars of mojo — nor do I want to constantly see others here being picked on and hate-ambushed by the same sullen, meanspirited types.

And I sure as hell don’t want to pay for the privilege of being hate-ambushed here on a daily basis. [Nor would I want anonymous kind souls to foot the bill for me to have such experiences here now.] So there’s that.

I figure if I don’t subscribe I’ll cut back on time spent here, in fairness; I also figure that most of the people who can afford to subscribe now are elsewhere on the site posting about how excited they are to be leaving the country soon. So there’s that, too.

To be continued, I guess.

If I give up on the place, it sure as hell won't be because of someone’s choice to use a trump photo.  That would be a petty excuse.  What do you expect someone to do when it is obvious that the post is about trump and no other?  Should they post a picture that is misleading to the content of the diary?  I think not.  That said, I don’t like seeing his ugly mug either but I understand the need to use his photo.
