Yakumo Koizumi (小泉 八雲, Koizumi Yakumo) is one of the romanceable characters in Ayakashi: Romance Reborn. He belongs to the Night Faction.

Profile[]

A Professor at the Imperial University and a dear friend to the heroine's father. This charming gentleman can often be found chatting endlessly about the wonders of novels. He has a peculiar way of speaking, though, and his true intentions are shrouded in mystery...

Appearance[]

Yakumo is a relatively young-looking man with fair skin and medium-length light blonde hair tied up by a black ribbon in a small ponytail. His eyes are usually blue, but some cards, art, and his home screen sprite depict them as being a rather vibrant shade of red.

Personality[]

Yakumo is an amicable man whose favorite pastime is sharing stories with others, both in the verbal and written sense. When he's around Futaba, he can act a little odd and even flirtatious, calling her "my doll" and expressing his affections towards her whenever he has the chance.

Biography[]

Yakumo was born in Europe and moved to Japan after hearing about it at the World's Fair when he worked as a journalist for an American newspaper. Now in Japan, he works as a professor of foreign literature.

Yakumo and her father have been good friends since her childhood, according to Futaba. Sometimes, they read and share history all night in the sun room.

Yakumo is completely in love with Futaba, acting sweet, flirting with, and worrying for her often.

Nachi[]

"Tama is always at your side. How nice it must be."

He is possibly slightly jealous of Nachi as Tama the cat, considering how much time he gets to spend with Futaba. He mentions this in passing during Patrols.

Etymology[]

• The name Yakumo means "eight" (八) (ya) and "cloud" (雲) (kumo).
• Yakumo's surname Koizumi means "small" (小) (ko) and "spring, fountain" (泉) (izumi).

Trivia[]

• His namesake was a real man by the name of Lafcadio Hern, whose pen name was Yakumo Koizumi.^[1][1]
• He enjoys red wine, and always has a glass of it before bed.
• He got injured when he was a child and lost the ability to see out of his left eye.
• He has a fondness for tragic romance stories.
