The departure of American Seafoods from the Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) surprised many and raises a few important questions.
American Seafoods is the largest quota share holder in the Bering Sea/Aleutian Island directed pollock fishery and a bedrock member of the marketing group, and it has benefitted from membership in GAPP since the group’s founding in 2003.
