I love how more people are acknowledging the 1985 series. Many people just watch the Netflix series and haven't even seen this. In my opinion, this version is better than the Netflix version. Rest in peace Jonathan. We love you.

Anne is the QUEEN of grudge holding. In the book this scene happens 3 years after the “Carrots” incident. And she continues to not talk to him/be his friend for another 2 years. That’s FIVE YEARS. It says in the book at she forgave him in her heart when he saved her, but because of her pride she just refused to talk to him. I actually think she liked the rivalry with him. It was easier for her to be his rival who she wouldn’t talk to than to be his friend.

What makes Anne annoying is the same thing that makes her likeable. She is proud and it is that pride that prevents her from outwardly forgiving Gilbert on the spot here. As much as we all want to say we would act differently, there are plenty of everyday spats and occurrences that we may never apologize for. Also to be fair... she is only about 13 here and she was already a really emotional girl haha. When I was that age and angry or upset about something, I cried and I hated crying in front of people so I would rather seem rude than burst into tears XD

Follows and Crombie were perfect in this adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. As was the whole cast. Quality is always a thing of beauty. Unforgettable.

My grade 5 teacher was obsessed with Anne of green gables and had the whole collection on DVD so every Friday towards the end of the day we would watch Anne of green gables and when we finished watching it (it would take a few months since we watched it in parts) we would start over.
