Stalked And Killed By An Online Fantasist Who Showed Up On His Doorstep
In 2006, 20 year old Matthew Pyke, lived with his 21 year old girlfriend Joanna Witton, in a small flat in Nottingham, UK. The couple had been together for 3 years and were very much in love, having become close through their shared love of online gaming.
Matthew, originally from Suffolk, had moved to Nottingham after dropping out of his Physics course at university, but had made plans to re-enrol at Nottingham Trent.
He had a huge love of technology and would spend the majority of his time building websites and communicating on online forums with people who shared his love for gaming.
His online pseudonym name was “Shade” and his girlfriend would go by “JoJo”. The couple spent a lot of time playing a Nintendo game called Advance Wars — a strategy game centred around defeating the opposing army.
Alongside the game, the couple were very active on the now inactive website Advance Wars Bunker — a website that gave information and assistance to fellow players.
