According to a US citizen — a former genetics researcher — on a plane that arrived at Pudong International Airport in Shanghai on May 2, all foreign passport holders on the flight were corralled into an area after landing. A Chinese inspector scraped their tongues with a swab repeatedly. The passengers on the plane that were from the UK weren’t told why they were swabbed or what the samples would be used for. Arrivals, including Chinese citizens, were reportedly asked to do tests in airports in Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai for flu, COVID-19 and mpox since last year, and some were provided consent forms. bloomberg.com/news/articles/
