// desperately trying to remember what i've already posted to tumblr and what i've only posted on xitter before the site becomes completely unbearable to continue using
there’s this new anime called Undead Girl Murder Farce and this silly French thief is in it. Plus, he stole a guy as well as a ruby saying "they should both belong to him". I’m not sure if you’ve heard of it but it’s pretty good!
// Oh yes I've seen it! I've tweeted about all the ugmf Lupin moments on my (less and less active) xitter account when it first came out actually haha.
His hair is so silly silly.... But definitely recommend for all Lupin fans! I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that it's probably one of the most accurate characterization of Lupin that's not a direct adaptation.

Is it bad that I find it somehow funny that Leblanc Lupin has more fics on AO3 than Night Hood Lupin? Like the sheer contrast in time periods of release (1990s me thinks to the beginning of the 1900s, literally a 90 year difference) makes me think there’d be more Night Hood fics than Leblanc Lupin on AO3. Also, there are literally zero fics for Night Hood on AO3, which further cements the fact that this is hilarious to me.
Anyways, sorry for the convoluted rambling, but I think you’d find this interesting (Also I love your Arsene. Pretty Bastard has stolen my heart.)
// I mean, thinking about it the other way... The original Lupin was around longer and had a big impact culturally, so it does makes sense that it has more fics than Night Hood. There's a whole bunch of niche Lupin-related media that I rarely see people talk about/has zero fics, so it's not the only one lol.
Also apologies for the late reply! I had this answer written and drafted like two weeks ago and then completely forgot to post it oop. Have a Lupin doodle!

// Hey, sorry for the late reply!
He's definitely incredibly hard to find this time and in a place that's super unfair, I apologize for that. I'll probably move him somewhere it is easier to find when I get back home in two weeks. However, if you would like to continue trying your luck, I'll say that he's not on any individual pages or posts, but he is still on the blog: on a popup page.
did you see toho is doing a lupin musical??? furukawa yuta is playing arsène, i genuinely can't imagine a better casting!!!
// Yes, I saw the tweet for it last week!!!
I've literally been saying for years that Arsène Lupin has a huge potential for a musical and now it's real??? Looking at the cast/characters, it seems like they're combining Countess of Cagliostro and The Hollow Needle, which would be strange timeline-wise but... it kind of makes sense if you squint since the Hollow Needle is one of the four mysteries mentioned in Cagliostro.
I wish I can go and see it🥺<- doesn't know Japanese
Hey hey I'm opening a few slots for chibi-commissions! Please check out my Ko-fi page for more details or shoot me an email through 15560931th@gmail.com :^)

Thank you so much for your Lupin masterlist! I’ve been reading through a local library’s collection of Lupin stories and even they don’t have everything on there! I cannot wait to slowly google translate everything from French to English so I can finish this silly little series about this silly little man.
// Hello Anon! I'm glad you found it helpful!
Most of the English translations of the stories are quite old and out of print, which is probably the main reason why the libraries don't have a complete collection <:)
The links I have on the document are actually mostly English translations! However, because their titles don't always get directly translated and there are often multiple versions of the same story, I've listed them out on the Table of Contents under their original French titles for consistency.
I still have their English translated titles under each section, so you can look up a list of the English titles and ctrl + f to search through the entire thing to find the one you're looking for.
I have an alternative page in English here as well, although it's less detailed and is in the progress of being updated.
Here it is, it's finally done. The ultimate masterpost of every single Arsène Lupin story, written by Maurice Leblanc, and where to find them. The majority of which are in the public domain, aka. free to read and download. Have fun.
Les Milliards d'Arsène Lupin, a summary by someone who can’t read it:
- there’s a tiger
- Lupin flirts w Béchoux, calls him “policeman of my heart,” gives him job promotion
- Béchoux: wow I’m so grateful… really really thankful
Lupin: :)
Béchoux: I will now proceed to show my gratitude by arresting you
Lupin: >:OOOO!?!?? shoot me yourself then you coward
- o yea the tiger
- uh ppl died, not related to tiger i think(?)
- something something about a organization of criminals
- Béchoux vs tiger, tiger wins
- I’m saying that like it can even be called a competition, Béchoux and co. just ran and hid under bed from tiger
- Lupin: fine, you can arrest me just bring me the warrant
Béchoux: :0!! gives him the arrest warrant
Lupin: rips up warrant
Béchoux: >:OOOO!?!??
- Some guy gets executed
- Lupin threatens to leak underwear pics of Béchoux or Ganimard
- The End.
Some additions, now that I've actually read it (and sleep deprived):
- Victoire: he still sleeps like a child when he's in his 50s...
Lupin: jumps up from his nap NO STOP SWEARING AT ME I'm not even 30 yet >:'(
- Lupin goes to a fair, has fun riding the carousels, threatens a guy, listens to the orchestra, beats people up
- there's a Mr. Tall-and-Insufferable at the fair who faces the wrath of Lupin's superior eggshell shooting skills
- Lupin: that's it! no more adventures! no more romance! no more women! in fact, I hate all of them! time to live out my best life as a snobby rich man!
- Lupin, the very same chapter: pretty blonde ????
- the tiger did nothing wrong
- get behind me tiger, I'll protect you from the big bad Lupin and the mean policemen
- Patricia 🤝 Aurelie, getting harassed by men where ever they go (Lupin (derogatory))
- terrible ending, really really bad on all levels
// *stumbles out of the depths of google search covered in blood*
There has also been a recent release of The Billions of Arsène Lupin in English. However, to be frank, I don't recommend buying it. This story, the last Lupin tale to be officially, partially serialized before Leblanc's death, is written in a choppy, unfinished manner. Many of the story elements parallels The Crystal Stopper. Yet Lupin does not have the same charm here, and is downright atrocious in some parts. The Girlfriend of the Week is like a weaker version of Clarisse Mergy at best.
The translation does attempt to edit and enhance upon the unfinished work with numerous footnotes, it is probably the most worthwhile part of this edition.
So yeah, I do not think it's worth it. I recommend just google translating the original French if you're real curious, at least you'll still have the "policier de mon cœur" line from Lupin to Béchoux (which this translation changed to "my dear friend" for reasons unknown).

Raoul is so cute... Queen's Necklace is one of my fav Lupin stories specifically because of little baby Raoul so I love your comic! Is it like a a Detective Conan AU? Any back story? Also Beautrelet teasing Lupin for a change! If Beautrelet recognizes him, would Sholmes as well? The 10 years thing isn't even inaccurate lol. Also, does the broken mirror mean anything?
// Apologies for the long wait Anon!
To answer your questions about the baby Raoul & Beautrelet drawings, it was a silly AU a friend and I came up with. The basic premise was, what if Beautrelet met a younger Lupin and Lupin getting cursed by Joséphine via her magic hand mirror. Young Raoul doesn't remember being Lupin here.
You may see her take on the verse here.
As for Sholmès, most likely but he would be able to tell, but they would probably never meet since my verse is set after Hollow Needle <:)

Ahhh your art! It's so pretty and always a joy to see. You manage to make Lupin look like such a loveable bastard! Teenage Lupin looking disgruntled with his little bag (presumably full of stolen things) and Beautrelet are so cute... I want them to solve crimes and go on adventures together! Also: "It's me, you ass," is such as perfect summary of Lupin's character
// Thank you very much for this commentary on my silly doodles!
I'm glad that I managed to achieve that lovable bastard look to some extent... I love drawing him but he's also such a headache to get right (<- me talking about a design that I came up with)

I’m personally a fan of the idea that he would’ve been a fan of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas or something like Dangerous Liasons. Although I’m not sure if he’d have been into science fiction or something along those lines.// I'm unfortunately not as well read on the books of the time period... but I think sci-fi is something he might be interested in! He was shown to be quite fascinated by the telegraph in the first story, and even in the canon stories, there are bits of sci-fi ish things like Lupin's car being quite a lot faster than what was achievable at the time, and his car being customized with a dressing-room type area so that he can quickly switch disguises on the go. Leblanc himself has also written two sci-fi novels, it would be a fun parallel if his character read sci-fi as well :^)He might've also been into epics/adventure type stories with a historical element, and poetry! Although, I am personally more leaning towards Hydro, since in the Genshin world, he'll definitely be from Fontaine, the nation of the Hydro Archon. Plus there's the lines from the Oceanid..."Coveting the shapes of the living, pure water can take on many forms. [...] The power of water is its ability to take any shape…"which mirrors what Lupin says about himself at the end of the first story! “Why,” said he, “why should I retain a definite form and feature? Why not avoid the danger of a personality that is ever the same? My actions will serve to identify me.”It may be possible that he somehow gets his hands on a delusion! Probably stole it from some poor Fatui guys... Hell, make it an Anemo delusion so we can both win and have both Hydro and Anemo on him. Apart from his vision, if he were to be a playable Genshin character... definitely 5*, probably sustained or quickswap main dps! I'm guessing the version you have is based on the text that was first published in 1911, which explains the use of Dickson. Now interesting tidbits about these two gentlemen: Pickmann is a reference to Jean-Lambert Pickman, a Belgian hypnotist, who got quite famous in France (there's a quote from Maupassant about him somewhere)Dickson (who is also mentionned in L'évasion d'Arsène Lupin), according to André-François Ruaud, references Professeur Dicksonn, a famous in his own right french illusionist/magician who, much like Houdini, used magic tricks to reveal how "mediums", "seers" and the like were deceiving people.(there's also the fictional character Harry Dickson, but even if the people who wrote his wikipedia page seem to believe Leblanc could have been referencing him, Ruaud, Dérouard, and myself, disagree ~)badlydrawnarsenelupin// thank you for this extra information, this is very interesting to read! The constant changes between the publications and translations really does make analyzing and reading the series such a headache...!#[ honestly i would love to read some of the stuff written by rauad...#if only there were a translation.... ]#ooc; en coulisse.#translation hell
