Teacher sentenced as a result of inappropriate relationship with student
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - A former teacher in Orangeburg County pled guilty today after having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Reagan Anderson, 28, was sentenced to five years of probation for second-degree assault and battery.
Anderson was originally arrested for two counts of sexual battery of a 16 or 17-year-old back in 2023.
The victim’s mother said the world as she knew it had completely fallen apart.
“A predator hiding in plain sight, waiting for her prey,” said the victim’s mother. “She sent several nude photos of herself to my son to lure her into a sexual relationship with him. He was not the only one. He was the one brave enough to put a stop to her heinous acts.”
Arrest warrants said these incidents happened in October of 2023 at a Pizza Hut in Santee and a home on Bunch Ford Rd. in Orangeburg County.
Anderson, a former teacher at Holly Hill Academy, was fired from the school after the head of the school notified law enforcement about the relationship after students came forward.
As part of her plea agreement, Anderson is ordered to sex offender counseling that must be approved by the solicitor’s office.
She will not be placed on the sex offender registry. But if she violates any terms of her probation, Anderson can face up to 8 years in prison and will be registered as a sex offender.
Anderson also has a permanent restraining order from the victim and his family as part of her plea agreement.
