Quoted from tilt-master:

The dedication to the JJP / HP diehards is amazing, hope we see something soon.
Let's really be honest, if you are waiting for JJP for ANYTHING, you have not learned from history and missing out on other things. There will be plenty of these if/when it happens, just like G&R.
Gladly practicing sensibility here and being patient.

Lol, yeah it's Harry damn Potter. If people want it they will buy it and not say "You know what, JJP didn't release Harry Potter this week, I'm going to go buy King Kong instead that will be made for the next 5 years" lol.

King Kong, Dune, whatever is not making me spend $10k+ a few weeks or even a few months early at this point. FOMO is dead for most buyers.

Quoted from Chris25810:

Let’s try this approach today.
When the factory and distributors are sitting on thousands of Guns N’ Roses, Godfathers, and Avatars they can’t sell they’d be better off announcing a major price reduction on all those games today instead of revealing anything that’s going to completely kill the possibility of getting rid of old inventory. They know potter will sell and any major marketing done today for it will leave the others sitting in warehouses for many years.

agreed, plus the overseas increases in price..

The most recent episode of Silverball Chronicles has given me a greater appreciation for Jack's understanding of the home/collector market. As anxious as we are to see the game and as much as we wish he would put up or shut up, the fact is there are people with money down sight unseen and many more lined up to buy as soon as they see it. Objectively, that's not a marketing failure or "miss".

That's simply the license. If Homebrew had this title they'd already have deposits down. If HAGGIS had this title people would still put money down.

Raise your hand if you are normally impatient. (that's me for sure). And, that is magnified with anything related to pinball. But, I've been waiting for HP for 2+ years, so I would rather they get it right instead of rushing out the door with incomplete code or worse yet, something wrong mechanically. So, I'm practicing being patient.

Quoted from Giardiasis:

It’s HP THEMED. Live a little don’t be so uptight. Man some of you pinsiders must be a blast to hang-out with

I'm with you. Your comedic timing couldn't have been any more perfect. Thanks for the good chuckle lol

Let's go Jack!

So if the game gets a 2 week delay for licensing approvals-

We get 1.0 code at launch? Thanks science!

If anything, Jack did everyone a huge favor by dropping the Harry Potter info. Imagine if HP is definitely on your to buy list and you spend the last of your money on Kong? They appreciated that people would want to know once it was confirmed and in the pipeline. They're rolling this out exactly as they should and I'm sure exactly how they can in regard to build times and scheduling.

I think Harry Potter was just a code name for another JJP that won’t sell.

#3365 29 hours ago

I’m still excited for it, but I would bet we don’t see the machine this month. Like I’d put money on it. It’s the way these days.

#3366 29 hours ago
Quoted from Noma2017:

Disagree. There have been photos of him standing next to a wizard of oz, wonka and Harry Potter banner but no overt statements from the company. No one really knows what’s coming until the title is announced by the company. A lot of the “in the know” people thought Avatar was supposed to be Top Gun, Margaritaville or Matrix.

More

Oh please. He had Harry Potter in the background and said "save your money". There was no ambiguity there. The only question was whether it was going to be a Fantastic Beasts game or something lesser. This was two years ago.

There’s only one person to blame for Harry Potter not being released on International Harry Potter Day

IMG_8712.jpegIMG_8712.jpeg

#3368 28 hours ago

I don’t think Harry Potter Day is as big as people here are making it out to be.

My son is a huge fan and he’s never heard of it. A lot of people in this thread have said the same thing about Harry Potter fans in their own family.

I also looked at the Harry Potter subreddit, with 3+ million members, and most people there don’t seem to know or care about it.

I don't think launching it today would really make a difference in sales.

#3369 28 hours ago

official announcement is today ?

#3370 28 hours ago

Stern Harry Potter prototype alpha topper design leaked today. It was going to be made with some of the highest quality procured plastic and featured a plastic wand directly from Harry Potter Wizarding World zip tied to the front of it. MSRP $1499.99, or $1799.99 with LE numbered plaque mounted to the rear of the topper.

My lord, the owners thread cannot come fast enough. Based on what I am reading on this thread, we would all sell JJP short if they were a public company. I also think this urban legend that Jack paid 4M for the licensing is just that, an urban legend. I would be stunned if that number was not confidential both from JJP's lens and from Warner Brothers. Further, it is very possible that they could have negotiated an upfront and per unit kind of licensing. We have no idea what the terms of the licensing are and they could have a per unit fee structure vs fixed (or a combo of both). Either way, my guess is that is all under the umbrella of an NDA.

Let's keep things positive folks. Remember, first and foremost, it is my Bday today!

Peace

4 Million dollars spent on the Harry Potter License, a couple dollars spent on marketing/hype. Classic pinball.

My apologies if Jack said this himself. Usually these numbers are confidential.

Another day gone and the cash I've set aside for the purchase looks less and less like it wants to be spent.

HP is on the line, out this month. CE being made first. Can't wait until it's in my house and the Kong people rip it to shreds.

#3380 24 hours ago

Have we heard this from anyone with JJP? I imagine with Jack at PinFest there has to be someone who gets something more definitive out of someone at JJP

Probably in the queue, ready for the line is my guess.

#3382 23 hours ago

My potter money going to the Kentucky Derby if it's not shown by 5 tomorrow. JJP needs 18 to win tomorrow or I won't have the funds for the game.

Okay...now people are downvoting facts. I've returned the love. But after talking to the "J" in JJP, if you don't want to believe that, I don't know how much more definitive you want the news to be. Go piss on someone else's parade.

I can never remember why I leave the basement--too many geniuses up here. Headed back down now...

$15k is an *insane* amount of money for most people. I think people on this forum tend to forget this. The vast majority probably think “we” are craycray, spending so much money on a toy.

The way to sell these isn’t to pitch them to Harry Potter fans but to pinball fans who happen to like Harry Potter.

Interested ... what's definite? Coming soon or license issues or CEs 1st ? I still think reveal will be May 22 when Universal Epic Universe opens. That's more license related likely.

You must be fun at parties.

It was a simple question....just wanting some verification from a reliable source, didnt seem to be that big of an issue but ok.

Glad you had a good time at pinfest.

This can’t be said enough. It’s why I always laugh when Stern talks about “growing pinball” by putting machines in Costco and the like. The only way to truly grow pinball is to get more arcades to open, because home buyers are a strange and limited bunch.

The first thread on the list is the best one, but it's not for the faint of heart...it's a pussy-free zone.

Stop by and pick up some free upvotes when a prude downvotes you "up here."

Patience is a virtue I certainly don't possess. However, beneath my overwhelming excitement for this release lies a small amount of appreciation for the wait. Right now the possibilities for this machine are endless. People have posted countless amazing ideas in this thread, and all are possible until they're not. Once the game is released, it is what it is, for better or worse. I'm sure a couple features will exceed my expectations, most will meet them, but a few will undoubtedly fall short. And I'm fine with that. But until that release date comes, everything about the game is meeting my wildest expectations. And I find some enjoyment in the dream, however impatient I might be.

Why would your “distro” have Jack’s personal machine lmao he kinda owns the place that’s making the game.
