.@GeirOPedersen Today, I am appealing for a complete, immediate nationwide ceasefire throughout Syria to enable an all-out-effort to suppress COVID-19 in Syria. Syrians are acutely vulnerable to COVID-19. Statement: un.org/sg/en/content/
Very pleased that we were able to come to an agreement on the full package on the Constitutional Committee. Looking forward to convene the committee in Geneva in the near future.

I strongly believe that the launch of the Syrian-owned and led Constitutional Committee can and must be the beginning of the political path out of the tragedy toward a solution that meets the legitimate aspirations of all Syrians - @antonioguterres

Heartbreak of Syrians continuing. We must continue to stand w/all Syrians, depoliticize aid, & get more of absolutely everything-more access via all routes, & more support of all kinds. Appreciated chance to discuss this w/EU & EU partners today in Beirut, en route to Syria.
The devastation from the earthquake is unimaginable. I appeal for all politics to be put aside to make sure that #Syrians urgently receive critical life-saving support they desperately need now, wherever they live, through the fastest routes. The window is closing rapidly.
Pleased to be back in Damascus. Hopeful we can move the political process forward with the Constitutional Committee as a door opener, and that we can find a way to end the violence in Idlib. Continue work on detainees, abductees, and missing persons.
I’m delighted that the Secretary-General has appointed Najat Rochdi as the new Deputy Special Envoy for Syria. I very much look forward to working closely with her in the search for a lasting settlement to the conflict in line with Security Council resolution 2254.
