Quoted from MK6PIN:

Pinball machines in general always need some love every now and then.....NIB is WAY better than a lot of used games, however, as most things aren't women out or EoL. Suppose low-play, later releases may be an exception (bugs already squashed and adjusted). I enjoy working/ tinkering with them as much as playing them actually (when I have the time).
If you have OCD, they'll always be something to adjust, lol.....There is definitely an adrenaline surge for NIB, however, which is hard to describe (in for an LE, btw)....

More

I actually think used games in general are better than NIB, except for heavily routed pins. At least from my experience there is always issues with NIB, while used ones have those taken care off by the owners. You get them for cheaper and usually with mods too.

As an engineer with OCD, I spent hours modding a mod for the chopper blade on JP to make sure that it spins juicily and properly synced with the sound from the game. When I told the mod seller about this, they mentioned it's the first time someone having this issue. I doubt most people pay attention to the movement of the blade vs the chopper sound.

Nah....I did put in the caveat " low-play, later releases" in there...JP squarely in that category...get a bug or do a deep dive on a TZ or earlier, then get back to me, lol......can't get parts, lots of precise soldering, chip or other board related components, dust and corrosion everywhere..on and on....fascinating engineering marvels, but an absolute pita to work on sometimes

Lloyd is " the man" for a reason...takes unbelievable energy, patience, and chops to pop those hoods, much less fix them...( whew, memories)...

Tweaks are just part of it for first off the line. These are all easy adjustments luckily. I’m fairly new too but had to learn trial by fire how to do some things when I got my NIB Elivira and had to about take it all part to get it all correct to play! These forums are wonderful to share thoughts and ideas to fixes. I’ve learned tons lurking, just now getting brave enough to post. Ha!

I feel like QC expectations are great and all, but the intelligent person looks at ANY new pin as a huge collection of potential failure points, and is astounded there are so few problems. Seriously, pop the hood on any of these games and count just the solder joints. It's a very simple job to solder, easily learned, easy to get proficient at. Still so far from failure proof. And that is literally the tip of the figurative iceberg. Humans touch so many specific things to make one of these, we should all marvel that they mostly plug in and function.

I usually open new games in my garage for a week before putting on location, because it takes me that long to even find the little annoyances I need to iron out. That impresses the hell out of me.

Hey guys - can someone who has received the LE, please take a clear pic of the "PLAYFIELD RUBBER PARTS" Page from the manual? Stern hasn't uploaded the PDF yet.

Hmm….Are part of the problems new owners encounter due to machines are not test played in the factory prior to shipping?
Just got me thinking that this may be the case as NIB owners want their playfield clean without ball marks. If this is in fact the case, I’m a bit more sympathetic to the tweaking requirements and acceptance of the same. Hard to think of any other manufacturer of a product that doesn’t test but understand why pinball manufacturers potentially wouldn’t.

Quoted from IdahoFamousPin:

I too have LE coming and fairly new to this hobby in retirement but I think it’s sad all these adjustments are required on a 13k investment. I can understand Kong arm tweaking but a simple finger swipe would find the magnet ridge. I went through this with my other Stern NIB JB 007. I actually had a switch error on initial start up that was a glob of solder left between switch contacts. Was hoping the LEs got little extra QC.

I really don’t think that is the norm. I have about 10 stern machines and don’t recall making any adjustments to them.

I've never considered a pinball machine a " plug and play" device....have tweaked pretty much every game I've owned....some more than others, but never a biggie. Part of the hobby, imho....these things indeed have a life on their own...need attention every now and then....

Strangers Things need a lot adjustments for correct flow, needs to have the correct inclination level for working perfect, and a lot of tiny adjustments, all Stranger Things that i played in public places was bad adjusted.

I was spend a lot of time adjustment my Stranger things but now the flow is perfect, works all that's have to work, and is one of the better pinball of Stern.

#111 14 hours ago

Totally agree about that. It s the same thing on The pro version of Uncanny Xmen

Around here I think all the operators are getting Pros, but that's for economic reasons rather than gameplay reasons. Still, I might not get to try a Premium to compare for a few extra months.

economic yes but also very much about

1 having just a couple less things that can break or need tweaking. a game that's down isn't helping the player nor operator, unless the player is setting their purse/food/drink on it while they play something else ^_^

2 arrival time

A Kong thread where there isn't an abundance of nutters rambling incessantly about completely unrelated Spooky games? What has the world come to?

Still at least two months until my LE gets delivered.

I can't justify the pricing, but glad there are others that can enjoy the newest. It will be interesting to see if this game is a big hit or not. You never know until the dust settles a bit.

Happy flipping to those getting it hot off the line!!

Tweaking or dialing in a machine is my absolute favorite thing to do and it gives me a real sense of ownership and pride.

In my house, I am manufacturer, end of the line, engineer and quality control.

#127 5 hours ago

Anyone who own it care to share on how it shoots? Particulary the flow and difficulty compared to other games.

I would love to hear how you go about dialing in your pins. I’ve found there can be a huge difference in how a game plays with minor adjustments.
So are you talking about loosening a post, pushing it a little and then tightening it back up? Same with ramps?
Anything you care to share?
Is it worthy of a new thread that might even lead to some how-to videos?

Hello, to anyone having issues with the river diverter (log diverter) dropping as soon as the ball hits it please make the following adjustment...

Adjustments -> Machine Settings -> Coil Settings -> Log Diverter Default Hold Power" (bottom one in the list) was 35 now 48

This will be the new default in the next code update. Thanks!

Question: How many warm white lamps are there on the lower 1/3 of the playfield?

Have a lot of pre-orders for an upgrade GI kit but the machine I ordered is still 2 weeks out. Would like to get the kits in the mail to all my buyers.

I will receive my LE on Monday. I'll be streaming some gameplay on Twitch the same day around 12pm. My Twitch username is Pinbolls. If you miss it due to work, I will be uploading the gameplay to YouTube. My username is the same on YouTube, Pinbolls.

I was told two weeks by my distro, but that seems overly optimistic. I'm guessing early June.

Looking to get a head start with my Titan order for the premium. Can one of you LE owners post a photo of the "playfield rubber parts" page from the manual.

Thanks

I asked Zach from Flipnout last night on @joelbob's stream and he said "May", so I'm optimistic first-run Premiums will be in homes before the end of the month.
