The Declaration of Independence explicitly states it is the right—and the duty—of the people to “alter or abolish” any government that becomes destructive to liberty. The Bill of Rights wasn’t written for convenience. And the Federalist Papers (see No. 46) made it crystal clear that an armed populace is a check on federal overreach.
You can’t selectively interpret the Constitution to suit your politics. The Second Amendment belongs to everyone—and that includes those ready to stand against tyranny in all its forms, even if it wears a flag on its lapel.
