i enjoyed this book. i like his sentence structure and I he has i think a thourogh understanding of Victorian London. i gave it a three because I thought that the Plot needed work. The Mystery Novel lives or dies by its plot.
I have read a lot of California PI Novels and have found that the book opens by the Client coming into the PI's Office and paying him to find someone. this Person usually ends up dead. the PI is usually Framed for his murder. Harmidarow did things backwards. He kidnapped the Hero and then framed him for murder. The death of Morrarity is a shock. Mary's murder was an unusual move. The plot had a many surprises like Morrarity wife and daughter. If this was three hundred pages. i believe it would have been more marketable.
