English is the language used in the UK, the US, Australia, New Zealand, and many other countries.

English is usually written in the Latin alphabet, with 26 letters:

Unlike many other European languages, English rarely uses diacritics, except for foreign words and their transcriptions (such as café, which comes from French).
When writing by hand, cursive writing, which is a series of letters, was previously the mainstream, but nowadays, block letters are the mainstream for reasons such as legibility, except in cases where originality is sought, such as signatures.
In English, many letters have multiple pronunciations. There is also a large discrepancy between the spelling and the actual pronunciation, and there are silent letters that are not pronounced, and one pronunciation may be written in several different ways.
