woman Yaqi X. has been arrested in Leipzig on suspicion of being an intelligence agent for secret service.
X. worked for a company that provides logistical services at the Leipzig/Halle Airport in eastern Germany, and she used her position to gather information on "the transport of military equipment and persons with connections to a German arms company."
From mid-Aug 2023 until mid-Feb 2024, X. "repeatedly" provided information to Jian Guo, a separately prosecuted suspect.
The information allegedly included details about flights, freight and passengers at the airport, as well as transportation of military equipment.
Jian Guo was arrested in April on suspicion of espionage.
