Around 2:40 pm on the 24th, firefighters at the Osaka-Kansai Expo site called 119 to report that a woman was unconscious.
According to police and other sources, the woman who lost consciousness was a woman in her 60s, and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance stationed at the site from a clinic at the west gate, but died there. She is believed to have died of illness.
According to the Expo Association, there are three clinics on site with up to eight doctors on duty depending on the time of day, in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
This is the first time that a visitor from the Expo site has been taken to a hospital and confirmed dead, and the association says that "appropriate treatment was given at the medical facilities."
