At 6:25 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail.
This line of severe thunderstorms is located 7 kilometres southwest of Leskard, moving southeast at 35 km/h.
Hazard: 100 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail.
Locations impacted include:
Oshawa, Cobourg, Downtown Toronto, Ajax, Bowmanville, Port Hope, Darlington Provincial Park, Orono, Newcastle, Serpent Mounds Provincial Park, Roseneath, Hastings, Toronto Islands, The Beaches, Scarborough Bluffs, Clarington, Leskard, Kirby, Newtonville and Osaca.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Stay indoors when a thunderstorm strikes. There isn't a place outside that is safe during a thunderstorm.

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

Damaging wind gusts to 110 km/h.
Large hail up 4 cm.

A cold front moving through the area is expected to trigger a few severe thunderstorms.

Now until early this evening.
Additional information:
Southwest winds will shift to northwest and diminish this evening as a cold front moves through.
Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
More utility outages may occur.
Motorists, especially in high profile vehicles, may expect hazardous driving conditions on highways subject to strong cross winds.
