You may also have noticed that the pic8 option is now gone.

It started around 2 years ago when I added an expando fallback (images mirrored on Poal server), so when pic8 or its hosts are acting gay, the images would still load.

But the main reason is that, months ago, pic8 started working erratically, and though I've tried to get in touch with @picman, he seemed too busy to respond or fix issues I reported to him in PM and on Poal Chat.

Yesterday, his account got deleted without any explanation. I'm not sure if that was him doing it or someone else, but I hope he's fine.

Poal's 7th anniversary is coming (April 28th) and I had a very important announcement to tell you.

Boobs and I decided, years ago, to have picman join the admin team. Unfortunately, these events changed that plan.

I discussed with several reputable Poalrs in Poal chat to let them know I won't be around forever, and I needed someone trustworthy and knowledgeable with web admin and coding to take the lead when my time to step down will come.

I'm now considering a few Poalrs, but if you think you are up to the task, shoot me a PM.

Poal has an automated backup running weekly saved on a local RAID system.

I thought your new solution replaces them because pic8 is problematic, the whole purpose of creating a new solution?

It's not replacing it per se. It's giving users the ability to still upload images from within Poal instead of having to use a 3rd party website.

Poal has been using a private Pic8 API picman exclusively shared with me, which was the default on Poal up until today.

I have no idea what happened to him, so I will keep it that way until I get some news.

(it's only a setting in the admin preferences to flip from Pic8 to Poal upload).
