Is that every single shot of her? I feel like just one is missing where I swear she is looking at Hiei and Genki then turns back to look at the ring. I remember several times I went through the DVD to get every shot of her so big ups for including shots like her holding her hair at 5:55. Or 6:22 where she looks nervous and feminine. Hm...I wouldn't mind if she showed up again, clothed or not...but I certainly wouldn't have been upset if Hiei beat her by breaking all her cords.

Fun facts: • Ruka actually is a nurse, according to the manga. There's a scene of her much later on where she confronts Suzuki of Team Uraotogi in the infirmary, telling him that the doctor ordered bedrest, and going against those orders means that his wounds could open up. Of course, the reason why Suzuki is leaving is to give his inventions over to Team Urameshi, so they'll have a shot at defeating Team Toguro. • Also in the manga, the 'vine bikini' that she wears is stated to have incantations written on them that enforces the barrier. • After this arc, she goes to Earth with Koto and Juri, and they become an idol group called the Cult Trio—or Occultist Threesome, depending on translation you're using. They make it no secret that they're demons, but no one seems to believe them; they're still plenty popular, though. They're also stated to have unrequited crushes, as revealed in an interview: Koto on Tōya, Juri on Suzuki, and Ruka on Jin.

This video is appreciated a lot because it allows us to see more easily the transition from how Ruka across her entire screentime went from being a flirty, confident, playful, and dominant femme fatale, who thought that she was in complete control of the situation, to a scared and shocked girl overtaken by Hiei's powers. Without hurting her in direct physical combat, Togashi was able to show how a sexy girl lost in a way her fight. Compare her attitude to how she started at 2:35 and her still dominating stance at 4:11, to the scene of her losing slowly control of the situation at 4:42. She softens up and becomes insecure about her abilities, beginning to display fear, but doing her best to conceal it. Most importantly, Ruka's body betraying her because from here on you can see that her bare skin sections are sweating and showing early signs of exhaustion. By 5:15 she stops bragging about her abilities and doesn't speak as often, because her breathing becomes erratic and she's trying not to lose her composure. Her body quivering with each deep breath she took. By 5:54 she's no longer capable of standing straight, not only because of the winds generated by the fight, but also due to her own fatigue. And seconds later 5:57, she no longer bothers hiding her fear and exhaustion. Ruka is completely afraid of the situation she's experiencing. A look of innocence and pity replaces from here on her cold, cruel, and calculating facade. At 6:58 she tries one last time to regain control of the situation and intimidate her opponents, only to fail miserably and get reduced to a panicked girl once more, stepping away in fear 7:13. At 7:43 she has completely lost her ground and Hiei humiliates her by reaping away the vines wrapped around her body. 8:10 She loses her little nurse hat and Hiei uses his energy to grab Ruka by her neck to knock her to the ground, no longer allowing her to recover her confidence from earlier. 8:28 Finally, we arrive at her most important "fight" scene. Her bravado and conviction are gone. Ruka is now panting and sweating a lot while being unable to keep her straight and composed posture. Many of her vines are broken or reduced into a mess. And with each deep breath, her chest shakes with fright. Her shocking scream indicates that she lost her duel against Hiei and Genkai, but in the end, as well all know, Hiei is more merciful and soft than he appears. As she finally falls to her knees in defeat, both of her rivals display mercy and forgive her life because Ruka deep in her heart was all this time a cute, scared girl not capable of fighting in physical combat. Since no longer she poses a threat to them, they know that killing or hurting her is unnecessary.
