Quoted from acedanger:

relax. I just meant sometimes the appraisal process can be challenging without supporting documentation. It is what it is man. It’s a simple forgery precaution or anyone could forge a simple receipt for anything and make a claim it belonged to so and so I totally believe it’s JEJ. But just sayin
Once again congrats it’s pretty cool. But honestly the game is cool regardless.

Wasn't sassing you!! Just laying out the evidence.

I thought their story was a little odd but really got interested when I saw those ROM labels

you just wait till Rick gets his expert. (Pawn stars) lol All good.

The story is most worthy and because of you that rom with specialized callouts can be enjoyed by fans opposed to lost. So definitely pretty cool.

That’s interesting 1.05 not sure if I’ve ever seen that revision. IPMD shows only to 1.04 and ChadH did a 1.07 custom update. You ever see 1.05 Chad?

That's 1.05 for the Display ROM which is the one up for download on IPDB and most people are using. You can find 1.05 inside the download labeled "PinMAME Romset (1.03)" or just "ROMs".

Another picture shows the CPU ROM being 1.02 which is also up for download on IPDB labeled "PinMAME Romset (1.02)".

Looks like it is possibly just the Sound ROMs that are unique with this one. Very cool find!

If the Sound ROMs ever get dumped, I could do a full check of them to see if there are any other unique sounds in them. Best to dump the CPU and Display ROMs too, just in case there is anything unique in those.

Quoted from CrazyLevi:

A couple people have said this to me.
To me, this thing is dripping with provenance!
I have: a receipt from his agents. A simple Google search shows that they were indeed his literary agents in the 90s, after working for and buying the agency previously operated by agent Lucy kroll.
I have an email from Joe Kamikow, who confirmed that data east recorded the custom voice calls with James for his personal machine.
And, of course, the game contains the chips with handwritten labels.
And, it's clearly a home use only
Game.
That's a hell of a lot more than i got with Dio's couch, which was basically Julian's auction house's word that it was as once in Dio's home studio. I asked if it came with COA or anything and they said no, the fact that it was listed in the auction was the sole provenance.
And not that it means anything, but I have this lovely reminiscence from his former agents about "Jimmy," as I asked what Mr jones was like.
In the end, everybody can make their own call. But I'm certainly fuckin convinced! As far as I can tell the story checked out and this is a one of a kind machine. Hey, in 1993 it's not like everybody was taking photos of everything all the time. Believe me, I searched high and low for a picture of dio sitting on my couch and came up empty!

Back in 1990's the place I worked at got Bill Bixby's Gottlieb's Haunted House. The game was from
his estate. But no evidence from Mr. Bixby that he owned it. The game was very clean, never played.
Same goes for Michael Jackson's Bally-Midway Black Water 100. At least DE added Personal roms.

Quoted from gdonovan:

Diagnostics, Sound tests. You should be able to cycle through at least 2 of the voice roms and 3 of the music tracks.

Tried it but it bears no fruit! Each ROM test only gives you one word. Unless I'm not doing it right.

Data East has a burn-in test. With the burn-in test all outputs are tested one at a time.
Including sound/voice/background calls. It might take an hour to go through all calls.

Quoted from thechakapakuni2:

You should try and get John Borg to chime in on this to see if he remembers anything on how this game was created. Regardless of a certificate, I’ve NEVER seen a DESW game with these sounds on stock roms. Maybe ChadH knows how to get to the sounds? He wrote the new 1.07 code and is fully familiar with the how the roms are comprised.

Having talked to Borg at Expo last year for at least 30 mins about some TFTC art lore, I'm almost certain he would remember details on this.

How much you gonna sell this piece of history for?

Others can feel free to speculate but I would find it unseemly and tacky for myself to pontificate on such trifling things as pricing matters here on this one-of-a-kind piece of cultural and pinball history!

This thread is dedicated to spreading the joy and wonder of a truly remarkable discovery!
