I recently came across an article about Boomers in the GlobalEnglishEditing website about the 8 habits of Boomers that are respected by younger generations and was intrigued. So I wanted to see how I stack up and have used a simple marking system to see how I perform in each of the 8 areas identified. I have marked myself on a scale of 1 to 5. One indicates that I am rubbish and five indicates that I am pretty darn good. With variations in between. So a possible lowest score of 8 and highest score of 40. And I will be honest with myself (otherwise what’s the point, right?).

See what you think:

Do I keep up with the times?

This is essentially about not being stuck in the past and embracing technology. Whilst I probably don’t fully embrace social media I do subscribe to Facebook, Linkedin and, of course, Medium. I have a Kindle eReader and 2 smart phones.

I give myself a solid 4 here.

Do I listen, really listen?

I believe that I am a very good listener (after all, I am married). I have a strong empathetic gene and nearly always see “both sides” of an issue. To a fault, sometimes.
