ISLAMABAD -- A day after India unilaterally suspended a bilateral water sharing treaty following a deadly terrorist attack in India-administered Kashmir, fears spread in Pakistan over an escalation of the conflict and possible military aggression by its neighbor.

India on Wednesday announced that it is holding the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, closing a border crossing with Pakistan, canceling regional visa exemptions for Pakistani citizens and downgrading diplomatic relations.
