Life in LA was starting to sand me down…slowly, invisibly until I was just a dull nub of who I used to be. So I packed my notebooks, my fear + my German language kills and flew across the ocean to try something different. Not to escape music, but to remember what it feels like to love things again.
To slow down.
To learn.
To drink a glass of wine before dinner without getting hangry.
To stumble through German conjugations with strangers who slowly become friends.
To be near a different family.
To breathe new rhythms.
Berlin doesn’t feel like a break from what I love. It feels like yet another beginning.
And for the first time in a long time, I feel like myself again, just a bit softer, a little braver.
Danke, Berlin. I think I’ll stay a while longer. See you in May, LA.
