-Slither Wing vs Baxcalibur (1964)
Behold Slither Wing, the ultimate Kaiju! Big lumbering stomps, titanic presence and absolute power are all at its disposal. The Slither Wing species has crossed time and space to enforce absolute dominance across Magma World. While the world's fluffiest Kaiju can scare far-away opponents with an immobilizing Silk Shot, Slither Wing truly shines at the midrange, where its lingering Dormant Flame and giant pokes always demand your attention, confirming into excellent corner carry with 5B or solid oki with Eruption. Not even the skies are out of its grasp; a wing-clapping 4A that anti-airs monstrously well and a plethora of aerial options (including a low!) thanks to the omni-directional Wingbeat airdash makes Slither Wing one of the toughest and most impenetrable moving fortresses that devours neutral and combos even better. As to be expected, Slither Wing isn’t interested in just winning in simple neutral, but complete obliteration thanks to a very powerful punish game. Once it has meter, its options truly skyrocket, as Magma Mortar patches up its defense, Trailblazer is a strong, multihitting projectile that launches into a juggle or traps the opponent in block so you can close the gap, Pyrosynthesis grants Slither a much-needed boost to its mobility, and Proto Flare feeds into its already fantastic advantage state. If you're looking for raw damage, however, there is no better option than the paradoxically powerful Heat Wave to absolutely devastate the landscape!
Slither Wing is a very versatile big body. While it's not the most nimble, it's backed by a strong neutral game in which it can use Silk Shot to scare the opponent away & set up Dormant Flame. This highly punishing projectile demands the opponent's attention, and Slither has something to cover almost any reaction they could have to it. 2A in particular is by far its best option, as it catches both parries and backwalking, leads to its best combos, and frametraps with Sunspot. A more offensively oriented Slither can choose to use Wingbeat to mix up its air approach and brute-force its way in. A few hit confirms or a well-placed throw can bring the opponent to the corner, where Slither can then use Dormant Flame to loop its terrifying high/low mix & 2A stagger pressure.
Despite towering over the entire cast at a monstrous 10 feet, Slither Wing is not without its shortcomings. Many of them will be familiar to those well-versed with big bodies: a large hurtbox and below-average 8 frame abare make you a punching bag for much more nimble characters if they overcome your neutral. Despite a wide toolkit of movement options such as Dash, 6A and Wingbeat, many of these burst options are committal at best and extremely punishable in many scenarios, funneling Slither into a slower playstyle. It’s a Sisyphean ordeal to reach the corner against zoners, and gaining meter to blaze through requires landing its slow sweep or small grab. Despite the (not so short) shortcomings, Slither Wing is an absolute beast who can easily rip an unsuspecting opponent to shreds if they do not respect its dangerous repertoire.
Playstyle
Slither Wing is an unorthodox big body with lumbering neutral and suffocating oki.
Pick if you like
Avoid if you dislike
Ferocious Firepower: Slither Wing's high-damage metered BnBs and insane corner presence allow it to be quite the offensive threat, especially after its install.
Volcanic Pressure: Slither Wing can smother opponents in stagger pressure with Dormant Flame & 2A, and its oki becomes truly titanic once it has the meter for Trailblazer or Proto Flare.
Monstrous Mix: A lightning-fast low, a gigantic j5A, an omnidirectional airdash, and even an aerial low can make waking up against this moth rather tricky.
Ancient Airdash: Though its speed leaves something to be desired, Wingbeat gives enough variation to Slither's jump to make it a threatening option, particularly during install.
Power Pokes: The lumbering Kaiju is no stranger to long reaching normals, which allows it to outbox footsies-based characters and cover almost any anti-Dormant Flame option.
Bulky Bug: With solid endurance and health that nearly rivals Bewear, Slither can take quite a beating.
Sluggish Slither: Slither has slow movement, forcing it to rely on its projectiles for neutral. It also lacks strong meterless anti-projectile options, putting it at a severe disadvantage against shotos and dedicated projectile zoners.
Fuzziest Fuzzball: Slither's gigantic size makes it vulnerable to instant overheads and other punishment. This compounds with the slowest abare and one of the slowest reversals in the game to make Slither a punching bag on defense.
Limited Anti-Airs: While 4A is great at stopping jump-ins on prediction, its slowness combined with Sunspot's small disjoint can make Slither rather susceptible to jumping.
Meter-Guzzling Moth: Slither's meterless damage is serviceable but underwhelming, and its meterless neutral is rather exploitable. This leaves it burning through meter faster than many other characters.
Confirm Windows: Slither has high damage, but it can't hit confirm its best combos without a jump-in.

Slither Wing slices its wings together, slashing any aerial opponent out of the skies.
Slow but large anti-air, best used preemptively
Sometimes juggles into Silk Shot, reliably combos on grounded counter hit
Slither Wing lashes out with its tail, sending the opponent flying.
Unique among parries in that it sends the opponent full screen, resetting to neutral and allowing Slither Wing to resume zoning
Important zone-breaking tool due to Slither's relatively laggy C-dash
