China Jobless Rate Lower Than Expected

China’s surveyed unemployment rate fell to 5.2% in March 2025, easing from a two- year high of 5.4% in the previous month, below the expected 5.3%.
The survey jobless rate for the locally registered labor force was 5.3%, while that of the non-local registered labor force stood at 4.9%, including 5.0% for those with agricultural registration.
The urban unemployment rate across 31 major cities was 5.2%.
Nationwide, employees in enterprises worked an average of 48.5 hours per week.
In the first quarter, the national urban survey unemployment rate averaged 5.3%.
