Commuters scramble onto the 29 Dufferin bus during morning rush hour.

Nicholas Christou is one of the 1.2 million Torontonians who take the bus weekly — and, like everyone else stuck in traffic, his bus rides have been getting slower and slower.

For Christou, a student at U of T, the Bathurst bus has never had a good day. In his area near Bathurst and Sheppard, he is starved for transit options. He’s tried the subway — but slow zones have plagued that route. He’s tried cycling, but biking through a Toronto winter wasn’t always feasible.

Cue the car crowd… “How dare you take away my road space! Surely our leader, the Camaro in Chief will never allow buses priority over my single occupancy vehicle, when will the war on the car end?”

I'm curious as to how the priority bus lanes on Midland have worked. Has there been a significant increase in on time or?

Won't that slow down those poor oppressed car drivers? (Sarc.) Ford won't allow this, surely?

A city bus is 40 feet long and carries between 36 and 51 passengers. A Chevrolet Suburban is 19 feet long and often has only one occupant. The same footprint of the Suburban could hold approximately 12 bicycles.

Prioritizing transit and cycling is the way to go if the goal is to move the most people through the city.

Never mind the bus lanes. Toronto can't afford this extravaganza. It can be easily cancelled using force majeure as the reason and Donald Trump as the culprit.
