The 36th Symposium on Techniques in Astronomy

National Astronomical Observatory of Japan

Introduction

“The 36th Symposium on Techniques in Astronomy” will be held at NAOJ (Mitaka) on Dec. 15th and 16th.

The purpose of this symposium is to bring the researchers and engineers involved in the astronomical techniques together and to provide opportunities for the participants to get the suggestions, information, relationship, collaboration and so on. With regard to the diversity need of techniques in astronomy, this 36th symposium covers not only the conventional topics (“Developments” and “Maintenance and operation”) but also the important topics (“Management”, “Education including the sharing of information and knowledge”, and “Safety and Health”).

In addition, we will have two invited talks: the one on the operation of gravitational wave observatory and technical details in detecting gravitational waves, the other about the telescopes and observational instruments critical for observational astronomy in the next decade. Also, we will have a special session on the management of technical development and engineering. We will inform you on the following circular as well as on our website when details are fixed.

We are looking forward to your registration and to seeing you at NAOJ Mitaka, Tokyo in December.
