President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the participants of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine (in the "Ramstein" format) from Kryvyi Rih, where a ballistic missile struck a few days ago. The President emphasized that Russia is the only reason for this war, because today is exactly one month since Russia rejected the US proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire. The head of state said that Ukraine needs ten air defense systems that the free world has, so political decisions are needed to make these systems work for the sake of peace, reports UNN.
I am grateful for today's meeting and for the "Ramstein" format, which is really useful. Thank you to all countries that continue to support Ukraine – our defense, our soldiers, our resilience. Stable, predictable and sufficient defense support, together with joint pressure on Russia and our own resilience here in Ukraine, including our domestic arms production, are absolutely necessary for this war to finally end. And it must end at the negotiating table
He emphasized that only the most difficult conditions for Russia on the battlefield and in international relations can force it to do what is necessary for true peace.
Today marks exactly one month since Russia rejected the US proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire – a month that has made it absolutely clear: Russia is the only reason for this war. Without force against Russia, there will be no willingness in Russia to accept and implement any realistic and effective proposals for peace
The President noted that Ukraine has a shortage of air defense and has to move Patriot systems around the country to temporarily provide protection to various cities
You know what happens when even one system fails: it means lives lost. In Russia, they see this as their advantage – their ability to be a terrorist state. And we must deprive them of this ability – their confidence that killings can be taken lightly. I ask you to focus primarily on air defense for Ukraine. We really need it. Ten Patriot systems – the free world has them. Now we need political decisions to make these systems work for the sake of peace. We need this result
