What Alexander The Great Can Teach Us About Overthinking
The night before the battle, he was in a deep sleep
I was so young when I came to know about Alexander the Great.
Although, besides all songs of praise about him, the thing that snatched my days and nights to think about him was the fact that he never lost a single battle in this life.
Since I was already mad about those fictional Marvel stars like Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man, How I could not get mad about this real super-human being?
For days on, I repeatedly asked myself how it could be that Alexander never lost a war? How could he fight no matter what the strength of the army on the other side? I heard he fought with an army of 2 lacs and 50k people while having his army strength of 45k only.
What sort of mindset he had?
I should study him, I thought; there must be an immense about of wisdom in knowing his character. He deserves my time to learn about him.
The night before the battle, he was in a deep sleep
After coming back from taking my school classes, I used to open google and start reading and researching Alexander The Great.
One day while watching a video documentary about him. I came across a strange fact that he used to make strategies the night before the battle and go on to sleep peacefully in a way that his soldiers used to wake him up for the battle in the morning.
That just rocked me to my core — I mean, here, people can not sleep, despite having lived in the technologically advanced world, because of their petty problems. They overthink, seek medical consultation, and have pills for peaceful sleep.
How could a person who has a battle ahead — a matter of life and death — sleep so peacefully the night before the battle?
Eager to know about it more, I started contemplating and researching a bit more.
After like months and months of researching, thinking, and decoding the idea behind his thinking and strategies, I concluded that he in himself was such a strong character.
