A pretty sizeable one. Starting with the censorship, beyond even removing the H-scenes, a lot of jokes have been cut out such as a joke early on where Takayuki calls Shinji a 'dogfucker' or something to that effect. It's a crass joke, but it's part of the authenticity that these two will fuck around like that and say such this. This is 4chan, it's the kind of jokes we make here all the time.

Unlike Muv Luv, there are a lot of H-scenes in KimiNozo, many of which are either plot relevant or give insights as to the mental state of the cast. Mitsuki gets the lion's share of those, and you can watch her mental state deteriorate though how she has sex and what she's willing to let Takayuki do to her. Losing them actually hurts the overall story in a way losing the H-scenes for Muv Luv doesn't.

On top of that the translation is just jank in the Steam version. I've compared some KimiNozo shorts the original Muv Luv translator Evan did and uploaded onto Youtube to the new versions in the steam release, and the difference is like night and day. They got an ESL Japanese person named Riho Sakaguchi to do it instead of the old Alternative Projects team that I think got dumped at some point. The steam TL is really stilted and uneven and all in past tense, and that might be because the company Sakaguchi works for boasts about using AI in their translation work. I have a feeling the TL for Tactics will also be done by them and also be kind of jank and shit.

No rugp was so god dam dog shit to work with it. It is the biggest fucking piece of unstable shit infused with aids to modify and work with when making translation patches because you can't change a few of the engine inner working with everything breaking or inserting text and having to force override the native jap text in order to display English or the god dam retarded way they setup images to be displayed. But with the new engine the Russians found a way to reverse engineer the engine the new Kimi nozo is on and I think or we'll I'm pretty sure fron what I've seen and what they have so far is a patch with an English translation done by human beings with good ol' sex restored in the game and whatever god awful translation removed and a more better English translation added instead of what was done by that slop ESL translator using ai because the way the text structured it was all done via Google translate or deepl translation or an older model of gpt because it looks familiar to what some companies are doing when it comes to releasing things on steam or what some fan patch's for other games have when it comes to a translation. I thunk I could make an individual post for every game but in general:
I didn't mind the romcom elements in Extra(in fact, I liked them). I was totally into Meiya at first, but that last scene at the tree behind Hakuryou with Sumika... I didn't know a simple "bye-bye" could hit that hard. Reusing that moment in Alternative was brilliant.
But yeah, that’s when I realized I was actually into the retarded redheaded childhood friend.
The fact that she reminds me of my own childhood friend probably has something to do with it.

Unlimited felt weird. I liked the world-building and the alternate world is cool and interesting but it felt like it could have been way shorter without losing much. The ending is really good, but it feels rushed. Really nice buildup for the BETA as well.

Alternative panders to Sumikafags like myself, so I loved it. My main issue with Alternative is the pacing and the ending.
Takeru going back to being a moron in highschool but with even more waifus to choose from? Fuck that
The whole trilogy has a god-tier soundtrack. The early 2000s art style is soulful and cute.

Shame on the ending, I don't see it as much as harem wish fulfillment instead of I see it as Takeru going back to a happier life without all that trauma, as much as people want him to carry that with him for the rest of his life. I also appreciate that accepting Alternatives ending is another form of escapism. We were all following Takeru till the end and were happy to see him return to a state of normalcy, despite Alternatives world still existing and being a shit place to live for most. It's just another form of the privilege we get for living a high quality of life.

It's why, despite going back to romcom, that little inkling that they do remember some of what happened, even as minor as it appears, shows what they did happened, and that it mattered. We only saw through Takeru's eyes for the most part, and after all of that, we wanted out. But the idea that, outside of the resets, people in that world deal with that on the regular shows how weak willed alot of people in modern life, even to this day, actually are.

It's kinda weird. Reddit is now at a stage where they think my Muv-Luv/Mai HiME crossover fanfiction is worth celebrating? Like, I don't even have to be annoying and keep mentioning it? They just bring it up on their own. I'm honestly a little surprised.

But when I wrote a response joking about my crossover fanfic called "Timeline Manipulation," at first it got downvoted to -1, and then other people voted it back up to the default +1. So I guess that means it's just "normal" to talk about my crossovers? Like, it's not really "good" or "bad," just "normal"?

I think I really had some dark magic going when I wrote the first two chapters, and the resolution in chapter 3 kinda ruins it. Which, I guess, puts in line with the actual writing quality in official Mai HiME. But now I've gotten into the habit of constantly adding more ridiculous epigraph quotes to the beginning of chapter 3 as a deterrent to stop people from reading it (but all the quotes are still carefully selected so they're 100% applicable to the events of the fanfic)

So now I guess the overall message "Timeline Manipulation" is trying to convey is... Being Yamashiro is like Kelsey Grammer getting turned into a vampire while the Weeknd is dressed up like Batman and dances to the Perfect Blue soundtrack in the background. And dying in L.A.

I've been rewatching the Azumanga Daioh anime for the first time in a decade, and it struck me the many similarities it has to Extra. Yomi is very similar to Chizuru in looks and mannerisms, Sakaki ironically is very similar to Ayamine. Osaka and Mikoto are both oblivious airheads, and even Chiyo has that Tama energy. Even the focus on Yukari and Nyamo is similar to Marimo and Yuuko. A lot of the blame for the decline of Muv Luv is placed on Miyata Sou, but I think whoever refused to greenlight the Extra Anime that was to follow Akane Maniax deserves the real blame. Because all you'd need to do is focus on the comedy and the group antics, and slowly reveal the wider story regarding Meiya's reasons for being there. The failure of the Extra Anime to be made did more harm than anything else, because it reinforced the perception that the only thing that matters in a Muv Luv story is the robots and the aliens. That's how we got the Alternative Anime, in which the members of 207b might as well be cardboard cut-outs at the controls of the cool robots.

I tried to make my character that game look like Yamashiro.
