The World Has Gone Insane

Jenny woke up, and the bright lights stung her eyes. She blinked a couple times, allowing her pupils to dilate. She looked around and she knew that she was in a hospital. Her joints were stiff and she could barely move. Her neck itched. She reached up to scratch it, but a bandage was in her way. Oh yeah, Jenny thought, I almost died. She grabbed the bar on the side of her bed, and pulled herself up. She needed to move. She felt pressure in her stomach. She needed to pee. She saw all the IV's in her arms. She pulled everything off, except for the bandage on her neck and walked into the bathroom. She heard the alarms blaring, telling the doctors that something wasn't right.

When she was done, she washed her hands and opened the door. There was a medical team of doctors and nurses beside her bed, and they looked as if they had seen a ghost when she walked out. "I had to pee." Her voice cracked when she said it. She walked back over to her bed, and sat down. They all looked at her, still in shock. "What? Hasn't one of you patients woken up before? I swear." A doctor cleared her throat and smiled, "The thing is, you're not supposed to be awake. You lost most of your blood, and when we had some blood transfused, but it seemed like your body was rejecting it. We've been doing everything to make sure that you stayed alive, and we were going to cut you off in just a few minutes. But it looks like we won't have to." Jenny's eyes went wide. "How long was I asleep?" It would have had to have been a while. "About a month." Jenny felt her heart beat hard. Jekyll and Haylee must be so worried.  Was the first thing that ran through her mind. "Where's my phone?" She asked the doctor that told her what happened. "With your personal stuff, safe." Jenny nodded, "May I please have it? I need to call my... dad." The doctor turned to one of the nurses and instructed him to go get it, "Now, your name." The doctor said turning back to Jenny. "Oh, uh, Jenifer Jessica Jekyll."  She nodded, "We'll get you a new wrist band as soon as possible."

Jekyll walked up to Jenny. The hospital washed her clothes that she came in, but they were still stained with blood. She had just slipped on her Chuck Taylor when she saw him. She jumped up and hugged him. "I'm so happy to see you." She pulled away and looked around. "Where's Haylee?" Jekyll gave her a sad smile, "Hyde has her, again. But I plan to get her back." He bent down and tied Jenny's shoe for her. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and started the lead her out.

"Something seems to be troubling you." Jekyll pointed out as they left the hospital. "Well, the doctors all said that I should be dead, it's a miracle that I'm alive." Jekyll avoided Jenny's gaze. "That's because of me. I only waited til the absolute last second to do it, but I didn't want to. I didn't want to lose you either." Jenny looked at him, "What did you do?" Jenny wasn't sure she wanted to know. "I recalculated the immortal formula, and injected it into you..."
