To my opinion, microSD is suitable for temporary storage (i.e: mirrorless camera, CCTV) rather than phone expansion.
With the price of microSD, we can buy SSD + USB holder, just put it in the wifi router and we will get personal free cloud (wannabe).

After few days of usages (no 3D gaming), I would say A56 is indeed all-rounder midrange. Nothing great about this phone, but nothing bad in particular.
Compared to some Xiaomi and Realme I own, which have some great parts but with some downsides; conversely A56 did what it should as midranger.
A56 may not be you're choice if you have specific needs, otherwise it's maybe a good friend for casual usages.

"no card slot" - It was obvious Samsung was eventually going to drop the MicroSD in its A-series. It was a ticking time bomb from the beginning. This means if you break your phone on vacation, you can't pull out the memory card - you have to pay Samsung $1000 for "authorized" data recovery. (Authorized by Samsung, not by you, because you don't own your phone even after you pay for it.)
Samsung took away one of the greatest benefits the A series had over the S series. And Samsung knows damn well their customers want MicroSD card support.
Yes, you should have a backup, but you can't do it every day because it is time-consuming. And cloud storage is expensive and harvests your personal data. And USB-OTG reserves the USB port and the camera app can't write directly to it anyway. And those adapters that allow USB-OTG and charging at the same time only allow slow charging.
Also, it is 7.4mm instead of 8.2mm. The thinner a phone is, the more has to be sacrificed. Thinner means less fits inside it.
The MicroSD slot was on borrowed time and now that time is up.

For the same price it's better to go for the One Plus Nord 4:
1- Better specs 16gb Ram Snapdragon processor 512 storage.
2- Looks much better with metal body.
3- If you game a lot A56 GPU is uncapable and slow compared to Nord 4 excellent Adreno 732.
4- One plus has some nice details like Dynamic Island notch, alert slider and Haptic feedback vibration.
5- Ultra-fast SUPERVOOC 100w charging (I think it's the world fastest charging phone 0-100 in 28m)
6- Much faster storage (UFS4.0)
Samsung wins only in UI and software updates. maybe more accessories and cases.
I usually lean toward Samsung devices but in the past 2 years their mid-range line is not good enough compared to the rivals. They push you to buy the flagship S2x series.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2025Green lines happened after 2 years for my S21...I saw green lines appearing in my friends base s21 or s22 (not sure which one) a couple months ago. Haven't seen him in a while so I don't know what he did with it. He really did take care of his phone well. He didn't even play heavy games. The battery of that device was awful too.

From my own research, green lines randomly appearing is fairly common on non-Samsung phones with Samsung-manufactured displays, but are rare on phones with BOE and TCL displays. I think Xiaomi switched from Samsung to TCL since 2023 or so, and their phones haven't been getting random green lines since.

On my Xiaomi 12T (using samsung manufactured screen), the green line appeared only 3 months after purchase, no game, no update, used only for browsing and reading.
My current hypothesis: the line issues will affect high resolution screen (1.5K or more). The issues appearing in random (no exact period, depend on luck) but the heats may speed-up.

Perhaps mediatek spiritually addressing it or simply it's business, just to squeeze the price.
