The World Has Gone Insane

Jenny stood looking at Haylee, then back to Jekyll, and back to Haylee.  "Let me get this straight. So when you presented the formula to separate good from evil in a single person, and it was shot down, Hyde killed them all, not because he's you alter ego, but because he was your best friend and didn't like that the board didn't approve of your idea." Jekyll affirmed Jenny's statement. "Okay, and after it was shot down, you put it off to the side for a while, and started on a formula that was supposed to just slow your body clock, but accidentally made you immortal." Jekyll nodded again. "And when you realized Hyde found the formula and injected it into himself you destroyed it and faked your death, convincing Hyde that you didn't use the formula on yourself when you actually did." Jenny sat down on one of the beds, "And now you are trying to protect Haylee from becoming like some of her relatives in the past?" Jekyll smiled, "But you didn't "die" until after you conceived a son with Lisa out of wedlock." Jekyll blushed a little. "Yeah, that sums it up nicely." Jenny was still shocked about the whole thing. "Well, who else can say that they met their great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandfather in person?" Jenny joked. "But what about the book?" She asked. "Well, when I "died" I deiced to write about it, putting it down as fiction." Jenny nodded, that made some sense. "I must say, though, it's nice to finally speak to you face to face. I've been following Haylee for most of her life, and when I saw that you two were friends, my heart filled with joy. I knew right off that you were a Jekyll. You have a natural knack for Chemistry." Jenny felt guilty. She knew she had a knack for it, but she chose English over Chemistry because of her name. "Yeah, sorry I didn't major in it." She felt like she had to apologize. "It's okay. I think I know why you didn't."

"Hey, I know you two are family and all, and this reunion is touching, but I'm STARVING! May we please go get some food?" Haylee said. Jenny laughed. "Yeah, I'm pretty hungry myself." She looked at Jekyll. "Sure. How about we make it my treat." Jekyll held out his arms for each of the girls to take. When they walked out, Jenny got the same feeling she had the night she got the first letter. She looked over her shoulder just in time to see the tail end of a black trench coat round the corner.
