Football legend David Beckham looked very much the part as he celebrated an early 50th birthday party with friends and family. However, there was a notable absentee from the celebrations as guests dressed to impress to party with the star.

David, who turns 50 in May, got the celebrations under way in Miami on Monday and was joined by his wife, Victoria Beckham, and their youngest kids Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13. Eldest son Brooklyn, 26, and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, weren nowhere to be seen.

The proud dad-of-four looked dapper in an elegant tuxedo and bowtie combination, while former Spice Girl Victoria stunned in a thin-strapped white gown. The pair beamed as they posed for pictures while holding hands. Meanwhile, Harper looked all grown up as she opted for a satin black dress, while Cruz looked smitten with his girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 29.

Cruz wore similar attire to his dad, with Jackie wearing a strapless light blue dress and matching clutch bag and Romeo also went for a tuxedo, with his partner Kim Turnbull turning heads in a fitted gold gown.

While the gorgeous family photos got an amazing reaction from fans, they were somewhat overshadowed given that Posh and Becks' eldest son Brooklyn was nowhere to be seen. While Brooklyn hasn't yet offered a definite reason why he chose to skip his dad's 50th, he has hinted at his whereabouts on Instagram.

The amateur chef took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to post a number of sweet snaps from his weekend away in Santa Barbara with wife Nicola. The photos show the couple indulging in some delicious pancakes before going on a horse-ride on the beach followed by a wholesome stroll.

Given that Santa Barbara is almost 3,000 miles away from Miami, where David was celebrating his 50th birthday party, it looks like Brooklyn and Nicola had prior engagements. Brooklyn captioned his Instagram post: "Santa Barbara weekends away."

And it wasn't long before fans flocked to the comments to remind Brooklyn that he missed his dad's milestone celebrations. "Missing the Miami party," one commented. Another added: "Must be tough to see his siblings having a great time with his parents in the US."

Someone else hit out at Brooklyn, calling him ungrateful in a fiery comment: "An ungrateful son, after all the love and support your family has given you throughout your life." While another follower wrote: "Why are you not at your dad's party? Feels weird for a son to miss such a huge occasion like that."

On the special night, Victoria shared the happy snaps of the clan on her social media pages. Taking to Instagram, the fashion mogul gushed: "What a way to begin the first of many birthday celebrations for @davidbeckham, surrounded by friends and family x Kisses from Miami!"

However, fans asked about the couple's eldest in the comments section of her post. One user questioned: "and Brooklyn & Nicola?," while another echoed the comment, saying: "Where is Brooklyn and Nicola? Very weird. [sic]"

It comes as the family were joined by an array of famous friends, including longtime pals Gabe Turner, David Gardner and Ben Winston. David labelled his guests "friends for life" in his own loving update.

The world of sport was also in attendance with a number of stars from David's football team, Inter Miami, turning out. Among them was Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets as well as superstar Lionel Messi.

David's celebrations are already under way after his wife's lavish 50th birthday last year. For her landmark occasion, she reunited with her former band while also enjoying a pricy £250,000 bash in London at the impressive Mayfair private members' club Oswald's.

Wow. Can't believe David is in Miami, because he's been working so hard in London recently to get that MBE fr Ki Charles. That's a 'grabber' if I've seen one.

        Lacks genuinity.
